My friends are my family

Thursday Treadmill Treats

My friends are my family

This last weekend was an a amazing weekend for me. I got to spend it with the people I love, the people I actually like to hang out with.

Look so many of us, do things because we are obligated to, even though we might want to be somewhere else. Now your all laughing because you know it's true, like an in law gathering, or your office thing or your  spouse's friend's house that you'd rather not be there but you have to go.

At this stage of my life I chose to only hang out with people I like, people who make me laugh, who bring something to my life, like peace or joy.

I chose to hang out with positive people, people who spirits reflect mine, people on the same wave lenght.

I don't know how much time I am blessed with on this earth but I don't want to waste a moment of it.
I want to hang out with amazingly different people, people with different ideas than mine, different cultures, I want to learn and absorb myself in differences, open my mind.

This weekend was the perfect example of that on Friday night I got to hang out with my church singles group, a diversed group of singles, most who are much younger than me, but that keeps me young... learning and listening to them and hopefully mentoring to them with my life testimony.

On Saturday I got to hang with a girlfriend who is a pastor but is the most real person you will ever meet...we got to catch up, talked about family, friends, faith and life. She is one of these people that fills your soul with love and laughter.
That afternoon I got to spend time with my daughter's best friend's  dad. We were co room parents and in the PTA  together when they were in kindergarten and they are still best friends today.
We got to catch up, one drink turned into 4, turned into dinner, turned into shooting pool, then watching a band and dancing till 2 am!

My side's still hurt, nothing like another New Yorker to get you, to know what your talking about, to share so many memories with.

On Sunday I got to see a high school friend, we were tight as thiefs back in the dancing all night days.
We got to have a bbq and day of swimming with another couple who are amazing friends of ours.

Yes, all these different types of people, different backgrounds, different ways we've met and stayed friends over all these years. These wonderful people that enrich my life so much just with their presence.

And to top it off a perfect beach day on the 4th of July with yet another group of friends.... Wow even I am amazed how blessed I am to have so many incredible people in my life.

So today my friends, remember you can never have enough friends, you can never stop learning, stop opening your mind to different people, different types of friendship, this is what makes you grow as a person...tolerance, compassion and knowledge.

So don't waste your time being where you don't want to be...be around friends that are your family!

As I always say my friends are the family I chose for myself.

My love to all of you that made this weekend totally amazing!!
