We can breathe a sign of gratitude

Even though I am on vacation I felt I needed to write this blog. This has been a hell of a week, I am in paradise yet my heart has been home, worrying about my girls, my family, friends and my home.

Last night I was here glued to the tv like everyone back home was doing. I prayed for days before as I knew what it was like to be in a hurricane of that magnitude.

I was afraid for everyone back home for their safety for the safety of their homes and businesses.

As I stood up all night watching what this killer storm would be doing, I couldn't help but be grateful to my girls and my neighbor Frank for securing my home and to my ex who took our girls and my cat out of harms way.

When I finally fell asleep in the early hours of this morning, I read a few posts on Facebook griping about the storm not hitting us, about having to do all this work. If I could have reached through the screen I would have slapped them!

Really you should be down on your knees giving thanks it passed us by, your heart and mouth should be filled with gratitude. You obviously never lived through a real hurricane, you have no idea how lucky we were. How many people could have died, how many people could have woken up this morning homeless.

How many precious family pictures and treasures could we have lost?

How many people could have lost their livelihood, jobs and businesses.
How we could have had no power, no water, no gas or food for weeks or months.
All of this should make you give thanks.

Yes, we did a lot of work, spent a lot of money...
but God... it could have been another way, be Grateful it wasn't.

So today my friends, I sit here with tears in my eyes knowing that prayer works,  I am here so very grateful that we are all okay and that by the grace of God, it could have been another way.
Give thanks today...
