Common Sense prevails

This last year has been one of the hardest years in American history.

It seems like we are going backwards in time and all the progress we have made along the way has been being chipped away.

Racism is at it's worst, women's rights are getting pushed aside, religious prosecution is on the rise yet again and the gay rights are being shoved back into the closet.

It has literally made me sick to see all of this, when I thought we had come so far, to yet again go back to what once was.

I know it's hard to know a moment in history when you're in it but I'm am sure with the gross normalization of bigotry and sexual abuse in this country that we are right in the thick if it now.

The scary part is that it's not just from the hate groups with hoods or being tweeted by Anonymous trolls, but by so many everyday closet haters, that it is scary. Roy Moore with his pistol waving in the air, is a public menace of the highest order and that he is being backed by the sitting president and the party in power is alarming and says alot about our country today.

So last night before I went to bed I said a prayer that people would not let this sexual predator, this racist man win a seat to run our country. This morning my prayers were answered when I read that Alabama turned out and tried to make it right, by not electing him.

We all need to stand up, we need to vote, we need to keep putting our voices out there for the world to hear.
I have deleted and unfriended people I grew up with because I realized that they were racist, I will not tolerate that behavior around me or in my world.

So I will keep speaking out, I will keep writing blogs, I will keep my voice heard because if we don't, if we stop, before we know it we won't be able to have a voice at all.

And all that we work for and the generations before us work for and paid the price for, will be gone.
I refuse to leave this world to my children with ideas and laws that were from 50 years before I was born.

I will fight until my last breath to teach my girls that racism, that religious beliefs, that sexual preferences are not ours to choose, we just need to live our lives and not judge others.

We just need to be compassionate and loving towards people, no matter what their decisions are because we are not God, we are not here to judge, we are just here to love one another.

So thank you Alabama for standing up for saying to the world we're not going to take this, this is our voice and it shall be heard, now if every other state could follow suit maybe then we could show the haters of the world what love can actually do, when we do it together, when common sense prevails.
