What we give up for what we think we want

What we give up for what we think we want

The Dalai Lama said "We sacrifice our health in order to make wealth, we sacrifice our wealth to get back our health"

We are so anxious of what will happen in the future that we don't enjoy the present, the result being, we don't live in the present or the future, we end up living feeling like we are never going to die and die having never truly lived.

We think we want money and when we kill ourselves to get it, we realize it doesn't make us happy.
We think when...
When I lose weight...
When I get that dream job...
When I find a mate...
When I get that bigger house, nicer car....
When....
But when, when comes we are still not happy, still not fulfilled because we need to be happy in ourselves, in where we are now, right now, with whatever you have. I've seen the happiest people that have nothing and the richest without happiness, it all begins and ends with you.

Some people let fear stop them, the what if's, the I can'ts, I raise my hand to this one, I let fear rule my life for 28 years, I was stuck because fear owned me.
But let me tell you something, the pain of regret far outweighs the pain of the risk.

What if Oprah believed all her haters? What if Steve Jobs had gotten a real job when they laughed at his ideas? What if the Rock didn't overcome depression and go on to be a movie star? What if Ellen caved into all the bullies in her life? The people with the hardest past are the ones that took the greatest risk and got the greatest rewards.
You can not do that stuck in fear.

Lisa Nichols said you have to step out to that ledge, your brain will tell you don't, what if? You see everyone else is living the life you want yet you are stuck on the edge. There are three things that can happen if you jump, you will land on something soft, you will crash land or you will fly beyond your imagination, either way you will get back up.
You will never know what the outcome will be if you stay stuck, even if you fail, there will be a lesson on how to do it better the next time. Edison failed 1,000 times before he got it right with the light bulb. When a reporter asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn't fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps."
How many of us would be willing to fail that many times?
He had passion, this was his purpose and he believed in himself even when everyone else didn't.

What if we all followed our passion? Would we be better people? Better lovers? Better parents?
What if we all fulfilled the purpose that is put inside of us and not just go to a 9 to 5 job, hating our lifes, working for someone else who will replace us in a hot minute once we die? Why do we not give time to the ones that took us so long to find? Why do we not give time to our children who are desperately wanting our time? Why don't we give time to our dreams, our purpose?

No, we are too busy running after the almighty dollar, keeping up with the Jones's, trying to impress others with things and status and likes on social media, thinking this will make us happy.

So today my friends remember, this is your life, you get to fly, to chose happiness, to own your purpose.
We give up what we need for chasing a dream of what we think we want. Chose your life wisely, you only get one shot.

"Be the change you want to see"

"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
