Waking up and giving thanks
Waking up and giving thanks
There are some mornings that you wake up, and you feel exceptionally blessed.
It's like the sky is bluer. The air is crisper, and you are that much more thankful for waking up to see another day.
While I was driving to church, this is what I felt. After a wonderful night with family and friends, I am extremely grateful. Look, I have had more than my fair share of horrible times. I've hit rock bottom twice and have lost too many people that I have loved, but even so, I still have faith. I still believe in the goodness of people, I still believe in God, and I still have hope.
All of these things make me realize how truly blessed I am that he continues to wake me up each and every day. Life will always be hard. You will always have tough times, but it's days like this that make it all worth it.
Days when you get to be with family and friends, that you wake up healthy, in a home that has food or a car to drive. These little things are blessings, and we should all give thanks for this each day.
I know that sometimes as we go through dark days it is hard to be grateful for anything but I am here to tell you that once you start, even being grateful for the basics, with the little things, you will be able to be grateful for all things. This gratitude will change your life. You will see everything differently.
So today, my friends let us not forget that each and every day is a blessing. And if you don't believe it, just look up, and you will see all of God's glory. You were lucky enough to be blessed to wake up and have a chance to see that while so many others weren't so lucky today.
So, I give thanks to God today and every day that he woke me up, and yet again, I gave thanks for all things in my life because we all have a choice. The choice to complain, to be negative, to not appreciated what we have or we can choose to be grateful, to feel blessed even if our life may not be perfect, because it could have always been another way. And like I say at the end of every blog, it's up to you to be the change you want to see.
