On the basis of sex, the Ruth Ginsberg story

On the basis of sex, the Ruth Ginsberg story

So if you don't know who Ruth Ginsberg is, you must be living under a rock. Ruth has been quite a force for many years in civil rights and gender discrimination.
She led the fight against gender discrimination and successfully argued six landmark cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Ginsburg took a broad look at gender discrimination, fighting not just for the women left behind but for the men who were discriminated against as well. She was an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 to 2020. She was the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court.

I have always admired Ruth, for who she was and her policies but this documentary opened my eyes to all that she did and all the doors she opened as a woman when a woman's place was only to be a housewife. She went to Harvard Law School in an era where women didn't do that. She was only one of a few women to go to law school.
She was not just a woman. She was married and had a child while she was doing this. When her husband, who was also in Harvard to get a law degree, got cancer, she not only went to her classes but also took his classes for him. She helped him graduate all while maintaining a top GPA for herself. She ended up graduating at the top in her class, even while being a mother, a woman, and a wife taking care of her sick husband. Nothing was going to stop her from her dreams.

Women like her fought for the rights we have today. They put up with the shit being the first, so we didn't have to later on. These rights she fought for, for equal rights, women's rights, the right to choose, she knew that they would be threatened as her time was near.

So today, my friends, especially my female friends. We need to keep her spirit alive. We must get out and vote. We must get out and speak up for our continued rights and speak up for others' rights as you never know whose rights are next. We all need to be trailblazers like Ruth.
