What I've Learned From My 8-Day Fast
What I've Learned From My 8-Day Fast
I have done this eight days fast every year since I joined my church. To me, it's about giving the first week of the year to God. See I do this because I am so grateful for all God has done for me. I truly want to give something back, to listen, to become closer to him and for that reason, it wasn't difficult for me. I learned that if you put your mind to something you can do it, so just do it!
I learned I was able to shut off the TV, the radio, and all the negative energy outside. That I could just eat fruit and vegetables and just water and still be full. I've learned to make the sacrifice of going to church not just on Sunday because I needed to give back. I truly focused on God and on the peace and joy I feel in my life because of him. I learned that many meaningful lessons in the bible apply to today's world.
I learned that when you are a good person, good things will come to you. Even if you must wait, God will always pay you back on his time, not yours.
And I learned that I am not going to wear my problems in 2025. I will not let people's perceptions of me stop me from my dreams.
I will continue to believe in the impossible because I have seen miracles.
I have seen his miracles in my life, if you don't believe me read my book The Blessing in Disguise Revealed to see them all. I've learned to not make decisions when you're hungry and/or worn out. Or when you're under the gun. You need to step back to wait and think about the answer, and it will come to you. Not to speak until you have time to calm down and see things from a different perspective. (Still learning this one!)
I learned not everyone who goes to church is honest and looking out for you.
That one was a hard one for me as well as learning that not everyone has your heart but it was a lesson well learned. I also learned God has your back and will turn things around for you and that he placed some incredible people in my life to help me. People who have my back and yet again I am grateful for them.
I've learned that this is your year of new beginnings, of the unbelievable, this is your year to seize your God moment! But if you don't get it, it will only be your fault as you didn't reach out and grab it.
I've learned that I can say no! “Say no and the devil will leave you and behold angels came and were ministering to you”
One of the biggest lessons I've learned this fast while studying the bible is that I am like Daniel in the bible.
I can most relate to him. He was an uncommon hero, he was poor, no one thought he could be anything but a shepherd, and no one believed he could be a king.
Even when he was left to die in a hole by his brothers, and then he ran for years. He lived in caves yet he never stopped believing in God's word. Even when he fought the giant and won, when no one thought he could do it, he still didn't get the recognition he deserved. He should have been a hero and he had it all but instead, the king tried to kill him multiple times after that.
Even when years went by and everyone was against him, he still held on to God's word. I can relate as I've been knocked down, I've been betrayed by loved ones, I've been hurt and broken yet I still believe in God's word. He sometimes cried out and asked, "When God when?" He believed but he was still human and again I can relate as I do this. I think we all can relate to feeling like that.
Yet when you keep reading you will see that God kept his word, God made him king. He gave him all he lost, he blessed him with favor even when he screwed up God still forgave him.
I know that this gift he has given me is not for me but for others. That my test was a testimony for others to see what God can and will do in your life. So I must go on, I must keep believing in God's word and so should you.
So today my friends, you have to see what is going to come before it comes. You have to imagine it as if it has already come to pass. You have to believe in the impossible. You have to throw off your problems because if you see it if you can believe it, it can be.
I am so grateful for being able to give back to him during this fast, this is my gift to him. I am grateful for the lessons I've learned during this time and hopefully, the lessons I was able to share with you. You don't have to wait until the beginning of the year to do this, you can do it anytime, You can show God how grateful you are any day, anytime. So start today.
