I'm Your Venus
I'm Your Venus
I just watched the documentary on Netflix called I'm your Venus about the death of Venus Pellagatti Xtravagenza, a trans woman who was murder and how her brothers got together to try to find out who killed her.
Along the way they learned who she was through her other family, The House of Xtravagenza, the trans family who was there for her during her transition time.
During this documentary they came to realize her life and the people who were in it. Knowing who she really was, they decided to change her name legally and got the house she lived in made into a historic site so they could give her the respect that she deserved and so that all trans people can see and give hope to the community.
Her brothers got to meet a lot of great people along the way of making this documentary and it changed their views of the trans community. If we all could do this, to only see the real person who is just trying to live their authentic life. Who is a human being who just wants what we all want. To be loved, to have a family, and just to be respected as a human being.
I can't for the life of me understand why can't people let others live the life they want to. We are all made different, that's what makes this world so special.
It's none of your business how someone else chooses to live. Do you boo, mind your business. Let others live their lives without hatred, without fear and without judgment. Because really, who are we to judge?
These are just human beings trying to live a life that they want to. It's not up to you to decide that they can't. What if tomorrow the world flipped and decided that heterosexual people should be cast out. That we should hate them because they chose to love someone of the opposite sex. The world would be in an up rise yelling how dare you try to tell us what to do! Yet you think it's okay to do this to others just because they decided to live a different life than you…again who are you to judge?
So today my friends, I'm here to remind you that we are all human. We all bleed red, we all want the same things, love and respect for who we are and who we love. We need more love and less hatred for people who are different from us.
I love this quote from this documentary that says it all.
“None of us can be free unless all of us are free”
“Be the change you want to see”
