Gun control
This is a huge controversial topic this week, the week after the Orlando shootings.
There are people coming out fighting from both sides, with both sides having valid points.
There are people coming out fighting from both sides, with both sides having valid points.
There are the freedom of rights people saying we have a constitutional right to bear arms, that guns don't kill people, people kill people.
Then there is the other side that says look how many shootings we have, how many people will have to die before we do something about it, that more criminals and crazy people have guns than normal average people.
Both are valid points, both sides are passionate about their stand, so much so there have been protests almost every day since this happened.
If you read my blog you know I am about whatever you believe in, whatever gets you through your day, this is America, we get to choose, we live here because of that reason, we have freedoms to do or not do as we please, say or not say what we want, this is why people are still dying to get here in spit of all the other things that might not be so great, we still have this going for us.
So, I have an opinion on this, nah you think? Yup, you know I tell it like it is, so here's my take on all of this.
I grew up in upstate New York, I learned to shoot a gun at 13, we went target practicing all the time, I had lots of friends, including my high school sweetheart, that hunted every season,
I even tried it but I couldn't kill Bambi, just didn't have it in me.
I even tried it but I couldn't kill Bambi, just didn't have it in me.
The hunters I knew ate everything they shot, this wasn't about just killing for killing sake, some of these people actually feed their families with these kills.
I come from a family of military men, who all had guns, who were proud to serve this amazing country, alot of my family is police officers, they obviously have and use guns.
I grew up around this mentality of freedom to bear arms and I have shot all kinds of guns, hand guns, shot guns, semi automatic guns, I am not afraid as we always practiced gun safety, this was serious for these people.
This having and owning a gun was serious and there was no playing around, they knew what these weapons could do and they always were responsible.
I use to own a gun while I was married, we taught our girls to shoot and gun safety as well. So am I for freedom to bear arms? Absolutely, but here comes the but... sorry other freedom to bear arms people there is a but here.
I don't believe anyone needs or should be able to buy a rifle that can kill 20, 50, 100 people in seconds, sorry that is not what the constitution wrote about, Hello! They had no semi automatic weapons back then, let's get real here.
There should be more intense background checks, more waiting periods, whats your frigging rush?
If you are a law obeying citizen, you'll wait, you will be okay with the paperwork, the background check.
If you are a law obeying citizen, you'll wait, you will be okay with the paperwork, the background check.
The Orlando shooter asked for specific kind of guns, he wanted bulk ammo, the gun store called the FBI and still nothing. We are in war right on our own land, we need to be careful, we need to make sure senseless killings like these don't happen again. If the killer had a regular gun, not a semi automatic how many lives would have been spared?
I know this is going to cause a lot of heat for my opinion but hey I tell it the way I see it, like it or not.
I am for freedom to bear arms but responsibly, no one needs a gun that sets off 200 rounds in seconds, sorry, no one except our military.
So today my friends, we all need to keep our Constitutional rights but we need to be responsible, we need to come together, we need to have more compassion for others feelings, others ideas.
We need to learn and practice tolerance for each other no matter what our beliefs are.
Maybe then we wont be having this conversation....
