Happiness is a choice, not a result 

Everyone wants happiness, but not many people know that happiness is a choice, not a result.

What does that mean exactly? It means happiness is not a result of money. It's not a result of things. It doesn't happen because of anything. It happens because you chose to be happy. 

You choose to be happy in spite of what is going on. In spite of not having money or things. In spite of not having everything you wished for. You're happy because you choose to be happy.

I know this seems like a hard concept to learn, but it's really not.

Your happiness comes from you, from your mindset. I choose to be happy just as I choose to be grateful even when the storms are coming at me. I don't need a man to give me happiness or the job of my dreams. I am not waiting on these things to make me happy. I choose to be happy in spite of not having all that I want.

I know many people wish they were rich, they think that money will fix all their problems and make them happy. But I know many people with money who are not happy at all. Hell, I was one of those people who grew up poor and dreamed of having that kind of lifestyle. When I was living it I soon realized that money doesn't make you happy. In fact, I was miserable, I had everything I thought I wanted all my life, and I was unhappy. Even though I am out here struggling after the divorce. I am happy with myself, I am happy in spite of what I don't have anymore. I am happy even though I have to hustle every day to pay the bills. I am happy even though I no longer have that lifestyle. I no longer come home every night to cry in my bathtub. I am happy without because I am choosing to be happy, and I can't remember being as happy as I am now.

So today, my friends, I am here to let you know that happiness is a choice, not a result. Your happiness will not come to you. It has to come from you.
