Why I love Facebook memories
Why I love Facebook remember when
Yesterday while scrolling down Facebook, it's "remember when" section came up. I love this feature as I don't remember what I ate for breakfast and this gives me a way to look back over my life from the last few years.
Yesterday was particularly sweet as I realized yet again how truly blessed I am. It reminded me that 5 years ago on this date I was in Greece with my best friend. I had had this on my bucket list and my vision board for as long as I could remember and there I was traveling the world with my bestie, that was a priceless moment in my life.
Four years ago I was in New York with my cousins for a weekend of the best hair show in the world and making memories that would last forever. I cherish this memory as one of my cousins suddenly passed away this year, so this was a bittersweet memory for me.
There years ago I was in New York once again for a class reunion for one of my dear friends, that flew in from California to hang out together for the weekend.
Two years ago I was in California and Las Vegas with a childhood friend. I hadn't seen her in 20 years as my ex husband hated her. We went to see the Ellen show then we road tripped it to Vegas, laughing and catching up all the way!
Last year I started school again and was at a boot camp for that class in Hutchison island. For me going back to learn something that once scared me to death was a big accomplishment for me.
This year I was happily held up in my home with the ones I love, watching Netflix's and chilling.
Every time I open up Facebook remember when I see how much I've done, how much I've grown, how much I've learned and it makes me truly grateful for my life now.
I know how far I've come but sometimes you forget and this brings it back so you can see that you got over that heartbreak, that situation you were in and at the time you never thought you were going to make it through, is now in the past. That your prayers came true or that thing you thought would kill you, actually made you stronger.
It shows us how much we've grown or for some, maybe how much you still need to grow. But one of the main things it shows me is that every thing changes. Your friends will change, that you'll lose loved ones, your relationships or lack there of one will change, your jobs, your goal and dreams, everything changes, nothing stays the same.
It shows me that I must constantly change with it, I must keep dreaming, keep adding to my bucket list, keep learning and growing because this life is so amazing to stay stagnant. It taught me that life is also short and you'll never know when your time is up, because in the last 8 years I've lost so many loved ones and it was a hard lesson for me.
So today my friends remember that nothing stays the same, you change, friends who you thought would be there change, life changes and you must be able to change with it. You must be able to look back and say "Wow, look how far I've come" and know that hopefully God will give you many more years and many more Facebook memories, don't waste them on bitterness, on being angry or hatred, chose your memories wisely.
"Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
