Yet another mass shooting

Yet another mass shooting

This week a gunman killed 19 children and two adults in a rural Texas elementary school. This is the deadliest American school shooting since the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary a decade ago.

The gunman, who was identified as an 18-year-old man who had attended a nearby high school, was armed with several weapons, officials said. He killed his grandmother before this attack and he was killed at the scene.

This mass shooting and the one ten days earlier, where a gunman fatally shot 10 people inside a Buffalo grocery store is deepening a national political debate over gun laws and the prevalence of weapons.

What is going on in our country? Why are we doing nothing and then are shocked when this happens over and over and over again?
How can we ever forget the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook in Newtown, Connecticut, that left six staff members and 20 children dead, some as young as 6 years old.

Six years later, a gunman killed 17 people at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla.

Yet nothing, nothing has been done with our gun laws. Other countries have proven track records when they changed their gun laws.
We need change, yet all we do is lip action because of all the power gun lobbyists hold over, all the congressmen have in their pockets in Washington.
And we all know this, and yet we still do nothing.

And for all of the people who will come at me about the right to bear arms, I am not saying that the government should take away your rights. I am just saying we need more rules to get a gun. We need to ask are you mentally stable? There should be a time period you must wait. We need tougher background checks, age limits and things that would help us not have this happen again.
Yet we cry, we get mad and we still do nothing until the next killing.

Another startling fact is that
77% of the guns are obtained legally. Yes, they are allowing these people to get these guns legally, not on the black market.
These are legal killings, we are allowing these people, these children to be killed legally because the people we voted into office are getting kick backs, they are getting backing for their campaigns. We must stop this, we cannot wait any longer!

So today my friends remember we run this country by who we vote in. We must protest, we must run for office, we all must be the change we want to see.
