Shutting Down The Press's Freedom Of Speech 

So lately this has been happening across the county. In my ass backwards state of Florida, our piece of crap governor Deathsantis just sent a sixth letter to the Orlando's paper because he didn't like what they wrote about him. He threatened them into retracting their article. Literally trying to block their freedom of speech. 

But the paper shot back and said “Any attempt to bully our newsroom away from a story is clearly intended to be chilling, but it won't impact our reporting." 

“We stand by our stories and reject the state's attempt to chill free speech and encroach on our First Amendment right to report on an important issue. The state's characterization of our reporter's conduct is completely false,”

Good for them but this isn't only happening here, this administration is on board with this as well.

The man baby who is running our country has attacked many media outlets. Even trying to fire Jimmy Kimmel because he didnt like the jokes awww poor man baby. But this isn't a joke, according to the Committee to protect journalists he is trying to tear down our constitutional rights. 

He continues to refer to the press as "fake news," "the enemy of the people," and has used other insults to disparage outlets that report unfavorably about him or his administration.

He has also limited press access to newspapers and reporters that don't kiss his ass or sign his order not to "talk bad about him"

His Executive Orders and funding cuts are trying to stop public broadcasters like NPR and PBS.

Then there are the lawsuits against media companies: as he has sued various media outlets for his perceived inaccuracies or bias in their reporting. (Again they said things about him he didn't like, do you see a pattern here?) He even put pressure on  many law firms who have opposed him or have engaged in activities he disfavors.

This should be scary to all. I know as a writer I am scared, freedom of speech is what I do. I get to write about whatever I want to even if it's about putting this man baby down or disagreeing with this administration, that is what freedom of speech is all about. I will still write about this because this weakening of our First Amendment rights is unconstitutional.

This administration, along with the FCC, has taken actions that weaken the media's First Amendment rights and believe me, we should all be scared. 

So today my friends, let us never forget the words of Holocaust survivor Pastor Martin Niemöller because he said it best.

First, they came for the Communists.

And I did not speak out.

Because I was not a Communist

Then they came for the Socialists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Socialist

Then they came for the Trade Unionists

And I did not speak out

Because I was not a Trade Unionist,

Then they came for the Jews

But I did not speak out Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me

And there was no one left

To speak up for me!
