How music impacts our lives
Sunday night I was privileged enough to see one of my favorite gospel super stars perform at my church, Smokie Norful.
I can remember listening to his song "I understand" so many times I almost broke my I pod, it was my ringtone, it was my alarm music, it got me through the day, sometimes even through the seconds when I thought I could no longer go on... this song gave me hope to hold on..
It goes like this...
"Sometimes I feel like giving up, it seems like my best just aint good enough, Lord if you hear me, I'm calling you, do you see? Do you care all about what I'm going through and then he said one more day, one more step, see I'm preparing you, for myself and when you can't hear my voice, please trust my plan I am the Lord I see and yes I understand.
Sometimes I feel like I'm all alone I just like a stranger so far from home, I feel like I've done all that I could do, please Lord give me strength, I'm just trying to make it through... that's when he told me..just one more day, just one more step...
I am the Lord I see you and yes I understand...
I won't forget nor have I forgot... see everything works according to my plan
I am God trust me I got the whole world in my hands"
On those dark nights when I so wanted to quit, to give up, to throw the towel in, this song gave me hope, let me hold on...got me through the night...yes..this song saved my life on more than one occasion.
It was as if God himself was telling me, I hear you, hold on, believe, I am working it out for you..don't give up and I listened I held on, sometimes if even if it felt like a string that was broken and frayed, I held on..
So to be able to see this great artist perform this song, well, you know I was balling... here I was years later with this wonderful life I dreamed of, in this incredible Church I found, with my amazing Church family listening to this song that brought back so many hard times, so many struggles yet I got through, I held on, I listened.
I got through to this blessed life that I am living now, I couldn't help but cry with all the gratefulness I felt in my heart.
So thank you Mr. Smokie Norful and the thousands of other song writers and singers, who's music not olny fill our lives but can literally save our lives as well.
Your never know what an impact you have on so many people including myself.
So today my friends, when it seems like your all alone, when all you have is your music to comfort you, pick a song that will give you hope, that will lift you up, that will make you believe you can do anything, that change is coming.
Listen to it, play it over and over again, make it your theme song, believe...believe...believe that anything is possible because I am living proof that it is...
" Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life was over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
