Its the God in me

There is a gospel group called Mary, Mary and they sing this song called "It's the God in me"
Some of you might know it, it was on all the top 40 stations. It goes like this...You see what you want to see, you don't see me on my knees praying, you don't know what I've been through and how he's gotten me through.

Yes, we all see what we want to, we see people all put together, with money and fame and we think they got it all.

We see people happy and think, wow they are happy, must be nice.

We see nothing because we know nothing of that person and the life they lead or the things they may be currently going through.

You have no idea of the hurt they are hiding behind that fake smile, you have no idea how they cry themselves to sleep at night.

You don't know the price they paid to get where they are today, the cost of their soul. No, you know nothing.

I feel this song, it resonates in me because I know whats its like to smile on the outside while dying on the inside.
I know people thought I had it all. Big house, fancy cars, expensive vacations, lots of toys, wonderful successful husband, 2 beautiful girls.. Yes, it looked like the perfect life but it was a horror story and no one knew because I showed what I wanted to.

Even now when people look at me and think why is she so blessed? How come she gets so many blessings? You have no idea how many times I fell down, got screwed over, lost people I loved, had set backs, fell on my face, thought I couldn't make it through one more night...no, you only see what you want to see.

Like when they say people are a over night success, they don't see all the crappie clubs, late nights, the thousands of no, you will never make it, you heard. They don't see you on your knees praying to God to get you through each day.

What gets me through, is the God in me.That every morning I pray and give thanks he woke me up. Every night I give thanks even if I am going through a storm, even if I am not where I want to be, I am grateful for where I am at this very moment.

When I post how grateful I am for the life I have now its because you have no idea what my life was before, what I had to go through to get here...no, you have no idea the pain I've endured, pain I wouldn't wish on my enemies.

You have no idea the God in me, because he was the only one there for me when I was lost and broken, how many times after smiling, I came home and dropped to my knees, praying...

So today my friends remember you don't know what a person is going through or has been through. You have no idea how much pain that person is in or has felt. You only see what you think you see...but I hope when you look at me, you will see the God in me.
