Who is there for you in your time of need

So yesterday I wrote about being church hurt, when you thought your church was supposed to be there for you in your time of need but wasn't. Today, I am writing about who else will be there for you. It is unfortunate that sometimes you find out who your true friends are when you are in your time of need.

When you are riding high, everyone wants to ride with you. But it is only when the bottom drops out that you find out just who is there for you.

Many people may say they got you, that they are your ride or die, but when push comes to shove, they are nowhere to be found. This is very disheartening when you find out after all you've done for others, who will really show up and show out in your time of need.

Recently, I realized this with a dear friend. I know her heart, I've seen what she has done for others, I know what a big and giving heart she has. But during the most difficult time of her life, I saw who was truly there for her. And it wasn't all the people she helped, I can tell you that. 

All of the people who used her to their advantage when they needed something were nowhere to be found.

Yes, even all of her "so-called Christian" friends. Yes, I said it! Oh, they were there when they needed rides or to have her help at their events, but were they here for her now? Nope, nowhere to be found now. 

I see you, I know who you are, and it's not the "Christian" you pretend to be. But that's okay. Moments like this bring clarity to a person. They show you who people really are and who you can really depend on in your toughest moments. I know who came through for her, and I know who was there just using her all along.

So today my friends, remember it's not the talk, it's the walk. You can say you're a "Christian," but your actions will always call you out, and you better believe, I will.
