Putting you first
Putting you first
So if you know me or follow me, you know that I've owned a professional organization and personal assistant business for the last 9 years.
I organize everyone's else's, kitchens, bathrooms and offices. But I never seem to find the time to do it in my own home, isnt this alwaysthe case? This last weekend, while I was looking for a screwdriver in my junk drawer, yes, even us organizers have one of them. I couldn't close the drawer as it was so full of junk. So I stopped what I was doing, and yes, this also has to do with my Adhd and started cleaning that drawer.
That drawer leads to the whole kitchen and every cabinet. Then I was off to my desk and all my paperwork. As I put something away upstairs, that leads to cleaning out upstairs as well. Then, as I walked into my daughter's closet and saw that mess, it led me to do her closet, too.
I spent 9 hours doing all of this just because I was looking for a screwdriver.
On Sunday, I decided to finish my bedroom, all my drawers, my closet, and the whole bathroom. I honestly need a do over for the weekend. But I have to tell you how great I feel. Not just me but my home. It feels like a weight has been taken off my shoulders, like I can breathe.
I tell my clients this all the time. How do you want your home to feel? It should be your safe haven from the outside world, but if your clutter is overwhelming you, it doesn't feel that way. It feels like it is weighing you down, suffocating you.
So today, my friends, remember to do things for yourself. I know sometimes it is hard when you do it for everyone else 5 days a week. But sometimes we need to give to ourselves, we need to take care of ourselves. My favorite thing to remember is when you're on an airplane and they tell you if something happens to put your mask on first before you put it on someone else. Because if you don't take care of yourself first, you can't help others.
Remember to take care of you.
