We've lost our love and compassion

We've lost our love and compassion

So I want to talk about love and compassion because it seems like we have lost that in this country and in the world. This was especially on my mind since this last weekend was the anniversary of my dear friend.
That celebration between my dear friend and her now husband and it got me thinking about how if we all just had a little more love in our hearts how we can change the world.

My friends went through a lot to be together. They both overcame marriages that they were unhappy in and they both had to deal with the fact that both their families didn't want them together because of their race. She's white and he's black and this caused many issues, for many years. Yet their love for each other overcame all of that and held them together. Their love was evident when he got sick and she was there to take care of him. N
ow that she is sick, he's been there for her every step of the way. They didn't let the world tell them what was wrong or right. They didn't let their families tarnish their love they have for each other. They stood strong together and fought off everything that came at them.

See love does conquer all. Love can conquer anything, it can conquer hate, and racism.
It can conquer being poor, it can conquer any obstacles that may be in front of you. Love Is the medicine the world needs today.

I watched their love for each other get them through many difficult times and I think to myself if anybody could just see this. If anybody had friends that were in a interracial relationship, then you would know how much love had to do with it. It is not easy by any means to be in an interracial relationship in today's world but how do you stop the heart from falling in love with somebody? How do you say you can only love this type of person? You can only love this color person. That's like saying you could only fall in love with men that are over 6' tall or less than 200 pounds, it's ridiculous.

When you are open, when you have a compassionate heart, you don't see color, instead you see a person's soul. So then why is this so hard for people to get that? If you could be around a interracial couple that is in love, you would understand that love sees no color. If you could be around a gay couple going through illness, like I've seen during the Aids epidemic, you would know true love that lasts until your dying breath. Love has no boundaries, not color, not religion, not sexual orientation, love overcomes it all.

Who are we to say anything, to judge these people just because they are different then us, then what society deems "normal"
Who made us God? In the Bible it says love one another, it talks about love 538 times. There must be a reason to talk about love that many times, so who are we to think we know better?

I laugh because my girlfriend, Denise always says she doesn't care what her future man looks like, she says he could be short and purple for all she cares but if that's the man God gives her, that's the man that she's gonna love for life and be proud to show off her little short, purple man. I love her ideas because that's how we should all think, if you find that person that treats you like gold, that cares for you, is there for you through good times and bad, then what difference should it make? What difference does it make that they are white, black, tall, short, fat or skinny none of that makes a difference when the heart wants what the heart wants.

So today my friends, let's all try to be more compassionate. To have more tolerance for people who are different from ourselves. Let's learn to love more and hate less, because if we all saw the world through the eyes of my two friends you would see what true love looks like.
