Going To A Man's House On The First Date
I have been in this dating piss pool for the last 11 years. I have had a few relationships during this time but when they ended I was back on these sites. So to say I know a bit about online dating is an understatement. Hell, for a while I became the Taylor Swift of blogging because I wrote about my dates so often.
I couldn't make up some of these unbelievable stories, because even I am not that good of a writer.
Being a single woman and a woman who grew up in New York, I am careful of people, especially men. That and watching all these documentaries about these crazy dating stories have made me even more cautious.
I tell my girls where I am going. I screenshot a picture of the guy, what site I met him on, his number, and where I am going to meet him. I text them when I get there. I text them in the middle of the date, and on my way home. I met him out and I drive my own car to the place.
I make sure I give him a fake “burner” number when we first talk as I don't want anyone to have my real number. When I leave the date I take different routes home to make sure he is not following me.
Now you may say that this is too much, but women can't be too careful nowadays. So saying all of that do you honestly think I would ever go to a strange man's home, especially on a first date? Oh, hell no! But I have to tell you how many men have asked, not just asked but got pissed when I wouldn't. One idiot actually said: “What do you think I'm a serial killer, do I look like a serial killer?”
I replied, “Did Jeffrey Dahmer look like one?”
"Seriously, I don't know you. Let me ask you, would you let your daughter go to a strange man's house?" Well, he blocked me after that question, of course without answering it. Yeah bye dirtbag! But to think a man would ask this must mean that there are women out there not taking the precautions I do. Don't believe me, watch some of the documentaries out there and you'll be shaking your head yelling at the television “Don't do it, how are you that stupid?” Yes, women put themselves in all kinds of crazy situations but not this woman.
So today my friends, I am here to say, stay safe. Don't let a man push you into something you don't want to do. Take precautions as I do. You never know who this man is or what he could do to you. And if you're a man who does this or asks this of a woman, shame on you. You need to learn to be a gentleman (Not that there are too many out there but try to figure it out) Or better yet ask yourself if you would want your mother or your sister or daughter to go to a strange man's home. If the answer is course not, then stop asking women you just met. Do better!
