You Can't Ask That

You Can't Ask That

I was watching the show You Can't Ask That on Netflix. It's about different people answering questions that people want to know about them. They have little people, heavy people, people with disabilities, gambling addicts, swingers, sex workers, and many other people. It seems like the world is interested in asking these questions that are too taboo to ask so this show does it.

One of the shows was on Transgender people. The questions that they asked them were questions that everybody was curious and wanted to know about. That's why I love this show because yes, we are all curious about people whose lives are different from our own.

One of the questions that they asked them was at what age did they know that they felt like they were in a different body. Most of them said like 5 or 6 years old.  So they basically knew their whole lives that they were different. And why is this so hard to believe? Some people get more chromosomes and have Down syndrome, some are only born with one leg, or even some are born as adjoined twins. So why is it so hard to think something got messed up while in utero and these people got more women's chromosomes or the other way around?

Imagine your whole life you felt like you were born into the wrong body. That you could never truly feel like yourself. I think that would just suck. After years of going through this, they decided to do something about it and had the change.
Then they were asked would you ever wanna go back? And all of them said absolutely not! That they're happy with who they are now. Finally, after all those years of being miserable, they finally feel right in their body. Some of them even waited 60 years to do this, being too afraid to do it sooner.

I thought why can't people just accept people for who they are? If people want to have tattoos, dye their hair different colors, be gay or LGBTQ, or be transgender who cares? This is not your life, they are not hurting you, just mind your own dam business. Let them be who they want to be and let them be happy.

How would you feel pretending to be somebody else your whole life?
I know that when I was in my marriage, I had to pretend to be somebody else. Somebody that my husband wanted me to be, this perfect wife, a perfect mother with a perfect home and a perfect marriage and it was exhausting. I wasn't myself for years just to try to make someone else happy. People deserve just to be happy and we need to leave people alone and let them be.
No one's asking you to do what they do. No one's trying to force their lifestyle on you. I don't understand why people have to be so cruel. Why can't people just see it like I did and smile and think good for them?

So today my friends, I beg everyone to have more compassion. Put yourself into someone else's shoes. Think of what they had to endure their whole lives. The world is such an incredible place because of our differences. Let's embrace that, let's open our minds to different cultures, different religions, and different sexual orientations, let's learn from them, and let's remember we all bleed red, and that we are all God's children.
Live and let live.
