The Epstein Survivors Need Justice

There is a video going around with the Epstein survivors showing their pictures and how old they were when they were sexually assaulted by Jeffrey Epstein. There are more than a thousand of them that have come forward. Yet through five administrations they still have not received any justice. 

I know how hard it is to come forward and how people who obviously have never been in your shoes criticise why it took you so long to come forward or not believe you at all. As if you would want to make up something like sexual assault or rape. 

The reason it takes us so long is that many can't even deal with the fact. Some of us are too traumatized to face it. Some of us blame ourselves for being at the wrong place at the wrong time. For just knowing our abuser. Some are afraid because their abusers are men in power or that we won't be believed. Some like me never spoke of it for years because our parents told us not to. As if not speaking about it would somehow make it go away.

Some took years of therapy just to be able to talk about it and even then it cut you open like the first time it happened. Some wanted to bury it and never deal with it again because the pain was too great. 

You don't get to tell a victim how to feel, or how long they have to deal with the most traumatic thing that ever happened in their life. You don't get it and you never will unless it happens to you. 

These victims deserve justice for the millions of women who will never get justice. For the millions of sexual abusers who walked away scott free and then went on to abuse others. They deserve to see the government do the right thing and not protect one of their own. Whoever was in those files needs to be brought to justice. They need to pay for their crimes.

If this was your daughter, your sister or your mother who it happened to at the age of 12 or 14 or 16, a baby, being taken advantage of by some sick old men, you would want justice, and you would fight for it. And if you're not fighting for it, then you might be the problem. If you think this is okay, that hiding the files is okay, you are the problem, hell, you may even be one of them. You have no excuse not to demand these files be released. If this doesn't bother you then you are a horrible human being just like these predators. 

So today my friends, I am here to tell you as a rape survivor that I stand with these women. I know how much courage and pain it takes to step forward and speak your truth and I applaud them. 

Thank you for being brave enough to want this to end. For helping stop this from happening to yet another young woman and for demanding justice for you and the many other victims who deserve it. 

Let's all stand together and shout it from the rooftops…

Release the Epstein files! 

We deserve justice.

And let's all be the change we want to see.
