I Write How I Feel

I sometimes look back and think I really wish I could blog about stupid things again. Horrible dates, my kids leaving dishes in the sink, what I ate for dinner last night or the last movie I watched. I really would like to be able to be light and funny again when I write my blogs. But unfortunately, I write how I feel. My blog comes from my heart, it comes from my soul. This is the gift that God has given me, is me and I can't change how I feel. 

I can't. I can't be fake because I had been fake for so many years in my abusive marriage.Trying to show the world something I wasn't. The perfect wife with the “perfect” family when we were actually a dumpster fire but I can no longer do that. So I have to be real and I have to write about what I'm feeling.

And what I'm feeling at this very moment in time is sadness, it is disbelief, it's fear and yes, it is anger. 

I cannot sit here and pretend that I'm okay with everything that's going on with the world. I cannot pretend like it's another day writing a blog about bullshit. Not when I know that the world has changed, when I know that day by day, we're sliding into fascism. When I see that our rights, everyone's rights have been taken away. I cannot sit here and pretend I don't see this or not say anything. 

I have read too many books about the holocaust and know how this started in Germany when people did not speak about it. This is what happens when you don't speak out, when you pretend it's not happening. 

I refuse to be one of these people that did not speak out about this. I will be on the right side of history when this ends and it will end.

So today my friends as much as I would love to write about something light, or something funny. As much as I would love to go on another horrible date just to be able to write about it, I just can't. There's nothing funny going on in this world right now, this is a changing point in history. If you're afraid you should be, we are all afraid but we must get past the fear to make a difference. The people who spoke up, the people who hid Jews or helped them get out were afraid as well but that didn't stop them. We must all speak up, we must post it, protest, boycott, call or write your representatives or congressmen, do something, anything! But in order to change this, we must all be the change we want to see.
