Smiling through the tears

I been through alot in my life like most of us but the one thing that I've done through it all was smile.

No matter how bad it got and believe me it has gotten pretty bad at times, I always found a way to smile and laugh. I know no matter what, it could have been another way, it could be worst.

So I always chose to look on the bright side and be grateful for the things I do have, the things I am blessed with.

And sometimes I know that  if I didn't laugh I would cry... so I find even the littlest thing to smile about.

Recently and old friend and I reconnected and I have to tell you, we laugh so much together it makes my sides hurt. Even when I am telling him stories about my life, things most people would be sobbing over, I always flip it and put a funny spin on it.

I laugh about my disastrous love life or lack thereof, I laugh about my children and how they sometimes make me want to pull my hair out, I laugh even when I am going through a storm, even when I feel like crawling under the covers and I want the world to go away...instead I laugh.

One of my favorite songs is by Kirk Franklin, Smile, it goes like this....
See I smile even though I'm hurting see I smile, I know God is working so I smile. Even if I've been here for a while...I smile.

Today's a new day but there is no sunshine nothing but clouds and it's dark in my heart and it feels like a cold night . Today's a new day but tell me where are my blue skies, where is the love and the joy you promised me, tell me it's alright.
It's hard to look up when your down, sure would hate to see you give up now...you look so much better when you smile...just smile...

I use to play that song over and over it was even my ring tone..we've all been there and felt like that yet we can still smile, we can laugh at ourselves, it will be alright.

So today my friends, smile, laugh, don't take everything so serious, don't take things to heart and turn your heart into stone, we all get hurt, we all have rough times, the only difference is how we look at it...I chose to smile...
