Against all odds to greatness

one of the only black women billionaires besides Oprah spoke at my church yesterday.

Nigerian born Folorunsho Alakija is worth at least $3.3 billion. About $300 million more than American television personality Oprah.

The 68-year-old started her career as a secretary at the Merchant Bank of Nigeria, but moved to England in the early 1980s to study fashion design. She then returned to her native country and set up a high-end label called Supreme Stitches. She then went on to the oil business and as they say, the rest is history.

Her story is one of faith and strength. She told us that life is a race, from our mothers wombs, we starting running against the odds of science. 200 million sperm are trying to fertilize one egg.

But you made it against all odds, you made and you are here. See God is incredible, amazing, and he made you. You see how God changed peoples stories, just look at Joseph who was a slave and then God made him Prime minister. Moses, who survived all odds to rule over and free the Jews.
Joesph, who was jailed and thrown into the lions den and yet survived.
Lasurus, who Jesus raised from the dead, there are so many stories of come backs, of favor against all odds.

God opens so many doors for people, all we have to do is have faith.
This women was one of them, she was a recipient of God's goodness and grace. She is from Nigeria and had seven step mothers and 64 siblings. She wanted to make sure she succeeded in life even though
her father thought she would just get married and that would be it.
She experienced many events against all odds.
She had life changing lessons along the way.
She left being a secretary and started her own clothes line. The day  she launched her business someone asked her to enter a fashion competition.

She knew nothing about that but she did it. She ended up winning that competition and that started her career. She never gave up on herself, she believed all was possible so much so that she even ended up dressing Michelle Obama and then her career blew up.

She spoke of how challenges bring opportunities that change your life.
After her clothing career she decided to try her hand in the oil arena. But the most important thing she said she did was that she gave her her life to God when she was 40 and three years later she got into the oil business.

She ended up buying the worst block in the oil industry, they thought she couldn't do it. She took it because God sanctioned it. For three years she held on, she couldn't get anyone to help her but then Texaco came to her and together they struck oil.

When God speaks it nothing can stop it, nothing can delay it,  when God has it for you. You may not know when it is coming, but trust and believe it will come because God said it is so.

Wait for it! Because it will surely come!
They may be delays, they may be denials but when God has you, it will come. The road to greatness is scary, it's tough, it may get dark but you must keep going because that is the will of God.

You initial failure is your fuel you need to keep you going to that finish line. Your greatness is waiting for you, look and you shall find, knock and the door will be open to you.

So today my friends, this message is to teach you to never give up, to hold on, to have faith, to know that God has you, and that even against all odds, greatness is coming.
