We all have a David story
We all have a David story
During my fast in the beginning of this year, I read a lot about David and his story and I have been thinking how much I can relate to his life.
He grew up poor and he was passed over by his own father when they came looking for a man God spoke of.His brothers laughed when they chose him, saying he would never be worthy, they gave him armor but they didn't believe in him. David knew that he wasn't like his brother, he knew he couldn't be him. He did know that God had made him unique and he knew his strength came from God, and so he never stopped believing that.
With that knowledge and belief, he went out there and spoke to the giant, he said "I will defeat you!"
He spoke God's words, he believed it even if no one else did.
He said "You come at me with swords and metal but I come at you with God's words, the lord will conquer you and I will cut off your head!"
His message was simple, you need to speak to the giants in your life, you can't wait. You need to confront your giants and take them out. You need to finish strong, so you need to not listen to the may sayers who say you can't do it. You need to cut the head off of your fears, your addictions, the people who are holding you back, you need to cut the head off all of them.
You need to pray, to rise up, to speak it in existence, kick it out, so you can defeat the giants you are facing.
But his story doesn't end there as it should, of him being the hero that killed the giant. No, he was targeted by the king who wanted him dead and by his brothers who were jealous of him. What should have changed his life for the better, made his life a living hell.
See just when you think you are at a point when things are going good, when you have defeated your fears something else will come to you. You will be kicked down yet again but you must have David's faith, you must believe that God has you even through the worst times, he's got you.
For almost 20 years, David's story got worse, he was betrayed by his own brothers, thrown in the lion's den, escaped multiple attempts on his life by the king and his men. He spent years hiding in a cave yet he still believed in God's words.
There were times when he was tired, when it all seemed too much that he cried out "When God? Look at all I've been through, I held on but when God will it be my season?"
I know we've all said these words before, in our darkness times, when you only have that mustard seed size of faith and you think that you can't go on. I love his story because even after all of this, all these years that should have been his season, he still believed in God's words. He held on and didn't give up. I know sometimes it's hard I've been writing for the last 7 years, 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year and sometimes I think when is my break going to come? I'm tired, I've been through so much when is it going to be my season? Some days I want to give up, throw in the towel but I can't because just like David. I know that God spoke this gift into my life and there is a reason I needed to wait this long. It is on his time and not mine even though I want it now, I need to hold on and know this will come just like David did.
David's wait took years but he became one of the greatest kings, just like God had spoken to him years before and even when he screwed up, God forgave him because he knew David's heart.
This story should be an inspiration to all of us, that if you have a purpose that God placed in you, that he spoke over your life, you need to hold on. You need to believe against all odds, against all that comes for you, all that don't believe in you, you need to hold on to that tiny mustard seed of faith.
To believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that God will do it. For he is not a man that he shall lie.
So today my friends remember your season is coming, God's got this, and he's got you, all you need to do is trust him.
I know this message may have been more for me than you today, because sometimes even the strongest of God's soldiers needs reinforcement.
"Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
