So this weekend I watched a show called The dangers of online dating on Prime. It's a pretty scary world out there for those of us who are single on the dating scene and on the dating site's. But here's the thing that I learned about watching this television show: so many of these women did not listen to one their intuition and to the rules of online dating.
I know from my own experience of being married for 24 years and then going back to the dating world and using online dating, that things have changed drastically in those 24 years, in the dating world. I want to tell others about the do's and don'ts of online dating because obviously many women out there don't know the rules or maybe they need a reminder of what you should do and not do while dating.
So here is my list to date safely:
Get yourself a fake number from an app that is not your normal phone number.
Screenshot a picture of your date from the site you met them on, with their telephone number and give it to someone that will check up on you.
Give someone the name of the restaurant you're going to and the time you're going to meet your date.
Meet your date in a public place, NEVER give them your home address or have them pick you up at your house. (Sorry, those days are dead and gone)
Text your person when you have arrived at your meeting place and have them text you a few times during the date. Also text them when you're leaving.
Make sure you're not being followed on the way home, You may want to take a different route, just to be safe.
If after a few days you are feeling this person and think that it may go somewhere, you should run a background check on them For the $30 it will cost you, it may save your life.
If you are a single parent for the love of God, do not introduce them to your kids unless you have been dating for more than 6 months and you're sure the crazy hasn't come out. Yes, it takes that long before the crazy comes out.
I would assume that I wouldn't have to say this but watching this show I must… Do not go to their home or in their car. Most women who get in a car with a crazy person are 90% more likely to die as they can take into a wooded area and kill you
And the most important rule here is listen to your intuition, your gut feeling, anything you want to call it but listen to it will never steer you wrong. If something doesn't feel right,it's not. Don't feel bad just get out, that feeling may save your life.
Yes, I know that these may be a lot of rules but these rules may save your life and in today's world we can never be too safe. As women we are built to nurture, to feel bad, to take care of everyone and sometimes those very things we were built with are the ones that get us into the most trouble. It's because we don't listen to our intuition, we don't see warning signs or maybe it's because we are lonely or because we are vulnerable that we poo poo them away. For the safety of ourselves we need to listen, to watch, to be aware of things that make you go hum.
A person will tell you who they are, listen to them. When 1+1 doesn't equal 2, don't try to analyze it, just run Forrest run.
So today my friends please remember these dating tips, pass them along to others and let's date smart out there, your life could depend on it.
