Unbelievably blessed

Sometimes life gets overwhelming and we tend to forget about gratitude. We get so caught up in the day to day, in just surviving that we forget how much we are blessed. I always say I would never change anything about my life because it has made me who I am. 

It has made me stronger by overcoming things I never thought I could. It's made me wiser by the lessons it taught me. I was made tougher by all the knockdowns I took and yet I still rose. 

Being miserable made me realize that every day I am free is a gift, it is a blessing that I don't take for granted. Each and every day I give thanks for my peace and joy I now have in my life.

This weekend it was on my mind a lot. It was the 4th of July, and we as a country were celebrating our freedom. Freedom is huge for me because I feel like I was freed from a 24 year prison sentence when I got divorced and I celebrate it each and every day.

It was a long week and on Friday night when I got home I walked in and like every day that I walk into my home, I felt this peace in my home. This amazing home that rises up to meet me every day. That says welcome, take off your shoes, feel the warmth and the laughter, curl up and let me take you away from your day and your worries.

No longer do I hate my home, no longer do I have to walk on eggshells, worrying if I will set him off. No longer is there a deafening silence of unspoken hatred and regret. This is my home and I set the tone of it. For years I felt like a prisoner in my own home but now this is truly a home of freedom for me. And I realize that it's not just how I feel about it but everyone who enters, they all say the same thing. Your home is so peaceful, so cozy and a few said it reminded them of a Pinterest house, which I loved.

This home was built for laughter,  for friends, for parties, for the people I love to come together and make memories. And for the last 8 years this is what this place has done for me. I know that this home was a gift, a blessing from God and I never take it for granted.

So why am I telling you this? Because sometimes we are not grateful for the blessings. Sometimes we are stuck in the struggles and can't see the blessing. I know that there may be plenty of people out there who are trapped in a bad relationship or marriage. Who are miserable and unhappy and can't see a way out, can't see that the blessing is coming if only you believe.

So I am here to tell you, to show you that there is a way out. Will it be easy? Oh hell no but it will be worth it, I promise you.

So today my friends remember, we only have one life to live and most of us are on our second half and we don't have time to waste. We survived a pandemic like we never thought we would see, we lost loved ones suddenly, we couldn't see loved ones or say goodbye to them. Did this not teach us anything? Life is short, live it now.

So step out, get out, start over, put together your own little Pinterest home that is filled with love and joy. Be grateful for the blessings even if it's not where you want to be at this moment, they are coming.

It's never too late to be the change you want to see.
