Act your age

Act your age

So I hear this all the time, when you get to a certain age you need to act like it. This week was my birthday, and for me, that statement is a big hell no!
I don't feel old. I know what my age is, but I still feel like I did in my 20s or 30s. I am young at heart. I still sing and dance in the gym or in the streets. I still play my music loud in my car and sing to it, let them look at me, who cares.

I am still willing to try new things like zip lining or rock climbing on a date. I refuse to act my age. I'm going to be one of those 80 year olds doing a triathlon or dancing at someone's wedding while all the other old folks are looking at me. I will continue to keep my childlike wonder within me. Look, I jumped out of a plane at 40. I ran my first marathon at 45 and did my first triathlon at 49. I walked on fire when I was 55. It's never too late to experience life or try new things. I have never once said "Oh I'm too old to do that."
Who says what you need to act like at a certain age? I've never cared about what people said or thought. I'm me, and I will continue to do me whether you like it or not. This is my life, not yours. They say when you stop learning, you die. When you say to yourself you're too old to do this, you start to believe it. So, I continue to act young and enjoy my life to the fullest. And yes, call me a Cougar, but I will only date men that make me feel that way or will keep up with me. Trust and believe I will not go quietly. Instead, I will go into my grave screeching… "Oh my God, what a frigging ride that was!"

So today, my friends, don't worry about acting your age, don't worry about what people will say, just keep doing you. Stay young at heart, keep your childlike wonder, and never act your age because age is just a number, and this is your life, so live it large.
