We are all made different to learn from each other
We are all made different to learn from each other
I love this saying, and if you know me or follow, you know this is truly who I am. I have a united nation of friends. Black, white, Chinese, Caribbean, Haitian, Jamaican, Cuban, and Puerto Rican friends. I have Gay, straight, and drag queens friends. It doesn't matter to me. I love them all for who they are in their souls.
I always love what they teach me from their religions and from their cultures. It has opened my mind and my heart up to different points of view. I didn't know about others who were suffering or what they had to endure until I became their friends.
I remember watching a movie about a KKK leader and a black man who had to work together. When they did, they learned about each other and learned that they weren't so different after all. They went on to become best friends and then activists for racism together. See, all it took was to listen to someone, to understand that we all bleed red. We all want the same things, a better life for our children, peace, not to be afraid to be who they are, it's really simple.
Knowledge is power. It opens your mind up to see things from a different perspective. It makes you more compassionate and more caring when you hear what others have been through.
We don't need to know who is right and who is wrong as we watch this war between Israel and Palestinians. We need to have compassion for the people caught up in the war, innocent women and children. Families who lost their loved ones.
So today, my friends, my message to you is, when you get to know someone who is different from you, you see that you are more alike than different. You see things from a different perspective, and hopefully, you walk away a better person from it.
"Be the change you want to see,"
