Ice At The Airports =The Handmaid's Tale
So if you know me or follow me you already know that I have been talking about the Handmaid's Tale for years now. I started watching it when it first came out years ago but it had such a profound impact on me that I kept writing about it. Did I know that all of this was to come to pass? I don't know, but I do know that I thought it was possible enough, so I kept writing about it.
I knew it was something that could happen when we stop paying attention. When we stop voting because we think our vote doesn't count and especially when we forget the past. We were ready for the perfect storm and along it came.
I write about abuse all the time and I say that it doesn't happen overnight, it starts little by little. It's like the analogy of boiling a frog, if you put him in lukewarm water he doesn't know he's being boiled to death as you slowly increase the flame. Same thing, they started by taking away women's rights to our bodies. Now they're trying to take away our voting rights and there is talk about taking us back to the 50s where we can't buy houses or have credit cards so that we are subservient to men again.
They are pointing to a scapegoat (immigrants, instead of Jews) so that it's a us against them mentality, look, they are the bad guys. They are wanting to put blacks on the back of the bus again and the LGBTQ community back in the closets. This is for complete control.
The reason you are not seeing it is because you don't know history or you don't think stories like the Handmaid's Tale could happen but they can and they are, right now.
Last night my daughter sent me a clip of the Handmaid's Tale when this gay couple with their child were trying to leave the country and their version of “ICE” was at the airports telling them they weren't a family and asking them whose egg they used. The “government” demanding to know this, to see their papers and then stops and puts you into custody. This is ICE, right now full control, no limits or consequences.
Hello!! Wake the fuck up people! This is not a television show, this is real fucking life, right now! And you are too blind or too stupid to see it. This is not about what could happen, this is about what is happening.
So today my friends remember…I've been screaming this from the rooftops. I've been writing about this, calling my congressman, protesting all over because I see the writing on the wall.
I want to wake you up to do something before one day you wake up and ask just like the Germans how did we get here? You get there by being complicit, by not speaking out. You got here by not voting because like I say at the end of every blog only you can be the change you want to see. But you must do something.
