Motivating yourself
Motivating yourself
Did you know that when you wake up in the morning, within the first 20 minutes your mind is operating at 10.5 wave cycles per second? That's when the subconscious mind is most impressionable and you will hold on to what you hear.
If you follow me you know my morning routine, when I first wake up at 5 am, the first 5 minutes before I get out of bed, when it is peaceful and silent, I am giving thanks to God for waking me up, then I give thanks for all my other blessings.
While I'm getting ready to go to the gym, I am listening to motivational videos on YouTube.
Everyday it's someone different, Les Brown, Tony Robbins, Jay Shetty, Oprah, Tyler Perry, and many others. I listen to them all the way until I get to the gym, in these first 20-30 minutes, I am listening to something that is motivational, something that is spiritual, something that I can get something out of. I am starting each and every morning in a positive way.
I don't listen to the news at the gym, I don't go on social media, my mind is clear and ready to absorb the goodness I am putting into it.
We have to do this, because we must never stop learning and growing.
See a dog can't be anything but a dog, a tree can't be anything but a tree but we can be anything we want to be, we have unlimited potential.
So many people just don't put the effort into trying to change themselves or they think they know it all so they don't have to learn anything new but in order for us to reach our full potential we must keep learning, keep trying new things.
We must go to classes, read books and listen to others who are experts, we must speak to our elders who have been there and done that. We must be open to new things, to new technology, to new ways of thinking and not be so stuck in our ways that we think that we won't be able to get anything out of it.
Yes, you won't be able to change if you're so stuck, if your thinking you're going to do the same thing you've been doing and even though it's not working, your still doing it. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing expecting different results and as Dr. Phil used to say "How's that working for you?"
It obviously not working for you, that's why your on his show, so then why are we so afraid to try something new or to change?
Because we are creatures of habit, we like to do the same thing over and over, we don't want change, hell, let's be honest, we don't like change, we hate it! I know I raised my hand to this one. I was afraid of change, I was stuck in fear for many years until I realized that change is a wonderful thing. Change could bring things that you could never imagine into your life but you have to be open to let it in, change won't just come by itself, you have to invite it in, you have to do the work, you have to be willing and have an open mind.
Just like you can change your body, you can change your mind. Hello! You control your mind, your mind doesn't control you, unless you let it.
Your head will tell you your too tired, you have no time, no energy, your too old, it's too late and a million other excuses it will tell you so you can stay in your stuck comfort zone.
I laugh when people ask me how do I get up every day at 5am, because my health is important to me, because I am committed to writing this blog, because this starts off my day like brushing my teeth, because you make time for what's important to you...period.
Your mental health, your physical health and your spiritual health should be number one on your list. Before your family, your bullshit job or friends, or reality TV shows and fake social media. This is the most important thing you need to do to live a long, healthy life. You need to grow and change and be open to do so.
So today my friends, remember you get one shot at this thing called life, don't be a bystander in your own life, own it! Live life large, do all that you can to make the most of it.
See I don't want to be all nice when I die. No, I want to go screeching into my grave yelling
"What a fucking ride!"
And to do that all you have to do is motivate yourself and like I say at the end of every blog….
"Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
