A new day, a new president, and new hope.

A new day, a new president, and new hope. 

Today is the day, it is finally here, the day many of us prayed for, hoped for, for the last four years, is finally here! 

Today we will watch a new president get sworn in but not just that today we will have our first woman, our first black vice president, a day that many of us never dreamed would happen. 

Growing up no little girl ever thought that we could become vice president or president, that was something only men could do. I thank God for change and that I got to see this historic moment happen. 

For the last four years we watched the leader of the free world tear us apart. We watched as he made fun of people, disrespected people, how he left our country to fend for itself during the worst pandemic in history. 

We watched Karen's and Ken's think it was alright to be downright hateful to people of color because their leader was. We watched our laws be decimated, laws for clean water, clean air, basic human health and well being being erased after so many years of blood, sweat and tears to get them into place. We watched him get rid of every good thing President Obama did because he hated him and the fact he was a great black man. We sat by and watched our once great country become the laughing stock of the world. 

But not today, today we celebrate that the witch is dead, ding, dong the wicked witch is dead! Today we are hoping for change, we are hoping to unite the country again, to heal the hurt, to move on to more important things besides our leader's mental health. 

We have hope that even though he may not be who we wanted or the best candidate, at least he is not #45. Nothing or no one could be that bad and so we are hopeful. 

We hope because the cabinet he picked looks like us, a diversity of color, of sex and of open mindness. We hope that we can change things or at least reinstall the important things that #45 wanted to erase. 

Women's rights, LGBT rights, equal rights for all people. Help for families that are barely making it, decent health care and maybe just maybe a united front against this deadly disease running rampant in our county. 

We have hope of uniting our country and hopefully pushing racism back in the with their sheets. We have hope once again of not being embarrassed to say we live in the United States of America. 

We have hope for change, for peace, for love for one another. For decent human dignity, for compassion for our brothers and sisters as we are all one race… The human race. 

We need to learn if we help one, we help all. That we are all in this together and if we don't work together with peace and love we will end up killing us all. 

We hope, the parents out here to leave our planet a better place than we got it, to our children and not to have to apologize for fucking it up worst for them.

We are hopeful, we believe in change, in equality, in decent human compassion, equal rights for one and all. 

So today my friends, my heart is filled with joy, it is filled with hope for a better tomorrow. I will be proudly watching change in our country today and I will say a prayer of thanks that so many people did the right thing because as I always say good will always win over evil, love will always conquer hate and it only takes one person. One person to say enough is enough, to take a stand and say no, to be the change they want to see.
