The Greatest Language Is Love

The Greatest Language Is Love

In honor of Valentine's day being this week and because we as a country need to hear this, now more than ever, I will be writing about love all this week.

I start this series with the purest kind of love, agape love. The love that God has for each and every one of us. I know many of you are put off by the church, or by "religion" and I get it because even in the church we sometimes lack the language of love.
Look I'm trying to be real here and that is real.

There are so many people that call themselves “Christian” and don't love like the bible has taught us. They don't have compassion for others. They don't want to help others. Many point fingers, they look down from their ivory towers saying you are not "Christian" enough, whatever the hell that means.

They don't seem to understand the love God has for us even when they are preaching that they are “Christians” See God has such a pure love for the world, that he gave his only son to us and even after we killed him, he still forgave us. Now how many of us would be able to do that? No, that is the purest love, that is agape love.

We need to know that love is the greatest and most powerful form of communication we have.
Just like language is the greatest form of communication in either spoken or written form. If you speak, you are communicating, just like as I am writing this, I am communicating to you.

And did you know that there are 7111 languages that are spoken in this world? There are 7111 different languages we have in the world to express ourselves and so many times we get stuck on speaking our love for one another.

It is not just communication that speaks to others, it is also your body language or our tone that can communicate what we are feeling. This can also say without words that I love you or it can say I can't stand you but even without words you will get the message.

Whatever language you speak it doesn't matter but as a Christian we need to communicate love and not hate. Our message should be wrapped up with love, so that the world will see us as people who love one another despite our faults and not that we judge one another. We need to be that light to show the world what Christianity is really about.

Love is an expression of the character of God

Love begins with God because God is love….

God speaks of love 310 times in 280 verses in the KJV.

"He who does not love, does not know God, for God is love"

How did God express his love? He created a people who broke all his laws, yet he still loved us and when he came back and gave his only son and we killed him, and even then, he still loved us, even then.

When you look at how God loves us, then it's easy to love people, to overlook the things that people have done to you, to be able to forgive them like God has forgiven us.

But today my friends, especially when there is a shortage of love and an abundance of sin that is eating away the opportunity to love one another. Now more than ever, we need to listen to God's words.

"And above things, have love for one another, for love will cover a multitude of sins"

Our community is divided, our world is divided and church people are divided as well, pointing fingers at others. We think we are superior over others, more Christian than others.
The church thinks it has a licence to act this way, like we are mightier than thou.

How can we talk about being Christian when we are turning our backs on others? When we have racism, classism, acting like you all that and looking down at others in the church and in the streets. We are supposed to be the light.

The bible says
"By this everyone will know that you are my disciples if you love one another"

Can you say in your heart that you love unconditionally? Do you judge people based on their race? Their class?
What kind of Christian are you if you lack the language of love?

It is the will of God that we love one another because God loves us all the same.
No one is better than you, not your priest, not your Bishop, not your pastors, no one and when we get this, we will know agape love, the same love God has for us.

"For God shows no partiality"
So today, more than ever, we need to remember the greatest language is love.

"Be the change you want to see"
