The People's State Of The Union 

Lately I've been overwhelmed, it's all been too much, what's going on in this country. Every day when I go online it seems like there is no hope to get us through this dark period. Some days I feel like giving up, like there is nothing that we can do that will change this nightmare. 

But last night I had hope. Last night while watching the People's State of the Union, I finally felt hope. I finally saw some light in the darkness. So many people in government came out, stood up and spoke up. 

They told stories about what is really going on in this administration and showed us that they are here standing up for us. They are trying to push back and that they are not giving up and that we shouldn't either. They were not there by themselves, they brought up people who have stories about how they have endured during this horrible time. 

Stories of immigrants who were kidnapped, and not allowed due process. Stories of the 38 people who have died in ICE detention centers and the others who were gunned down in our streets like animals. They spoke about how ICE has free reign to beat people, arrest people and kill people without any justification or without any consequences. They spoke about how the pedophiles are covering up for other pedophiles and how we need to hold them accountable. They spoke about how all of them, whether democratic or republican, need to be put away if they are in the Epstein files. 

They spoke about losing their homes, their jobs and their healthcare, how they can't afford to feed their families. These were stories that we all can relate to. 

They spoke the truth about how this administration is trying to separate us, make us hate one another but how if we come together we can do anything. They reminded us that we need to speak out, to come together, to protest, to boycott, to keep posting, to keep calling and writing to your government. We cannot give up. These are our freedoms on the line and we can not give up. 

So today my friends, remember together we can do anything, we are the land of the free. We will overcome. We are the people and we hire these people, they work for us and we can never forget this. And we can never let them forget that either! 

If we want change we all need to be the change we want to see.
