The Death Of Dolly

So unless you're living in a cave, you have heard that we have lost our beloved Dolly Parton. Unfortunately 80 years was not enough for us Dolly fans.

I remember watching her on television when I was a little girl. I loved that she danced to her own drummer. I always felt different and watching her gave me the courage to be who I was in spite of what other people may say.

She had a devil may care attitude. She knew she was over the top, she knew people talked about her. She knew people underestimated her and she used that to her advantage. 

She was true to herself all of her life. She taught others like myself to be true as well. Be yourself, be unapologenic, dance to the beat of your own drummer. She was passionate about her life and about helping others. 

She gave back and never yelled about what she did, just quietly behind the scenes she gave and helped. She was generous with her time, her kindness and her money to others in need. She was a brilliant business woman even when most people thought she was just a busty, airheaded blond. Yes, she fooled all of them. 

She was an incredible singer, musician, songwriter, actress, philanthropist, and businesswoman. Parton received various accolades, including eleven Grammy Awards, three Emmy Awards and the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, along with nominations for two Academy Awards, six Golden Globe Awards, and a Tony Award.

She also had 44 career top-10 country albums, a record for any artist, and 110 career-charted singles over 40 years. Her 49th and final solo studio album, Rockstar (2023), became her highest-charting Billboard 200 album, peaking at number three.

Over her career, she has given away hundreds of millions of dollars through her Imagination Library and various disaster relief funds. She just didn't talk, she walked the walk, unlike so many of these other people who have way more money, she gave so much of her own to help others. She was truly a gift to all.

So today my friends, I along with the rest of the world are so saddened by her passing. She was one of a kind and personally for me she showed me to continue to dance to the beat of your own drummer. To live life large and to hell with anyone who is going to talk about you, always be yourself, unapologetically. 

Thank you for that Dolly, we will always love you.
