Checking off my bucket list for 2018

Checking off my bucket list for 2018

Years ago I watched the movie The bucket list with Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, it was about 2 men who were dying and the list they made. The list consists of things they always wanted to do before they kicked the bucket.

Well, it got me thinking of the things I wanted to do before I kicked the bucket. I didn't want to be on my death bed one day and be saying I wish I would have done this or that.

I know how short life truly is, it can be gone in a heartbeat. Poof! Just like that it's over and I wasn't going out with regrets. No, I am going out screaming "Weee... What a fucking ride!!"

So I started one as I thought about all the things I wanted to do in my life. I started by going white water rafting (I am deathly afraid of the water)
I then went hot air ballooning over the catskills mountains (I am also deathly afraid of heights)
I've par a sailed over a beautiful lake in upstate New York. I learned to surf and I dived in Hawaii.
I ran a marathon and did a triathlon even though I suck at swimming and hate to run.
I've skied the mountains of Colorado and hiked them in Mexico.

I jumped out of a perfectly good plane at 10,000 feet. (That shit cured my fear of flying!)

I went to Greece and I traveled around the world. I wasn't just a visitor in these places, I emerged myself in their culture.

I walked on fire with Tony Robinns as I figured I walked through enough fire in my life, I might as well walk on it too.

I wrote the book I always wanted to and published it and now a second one.

This year I did my 12 for 12. 12 vacations in 12 months, it didnt matter if they were staycations as long as I wasn't home and I was somewhere else, it counted. Hey this is my bucket list, so they are my rules, make your own up.

I started off the new year of 2018 in Orlando with a dear childhood friend bringing in the new year.

In February
2018 I went to see another childhood friend who lived in Atlanta and we went hiking though the Georgia mountains.

In March I went away with an ex to Naples to try to rekindle our past. Well...the beaches were beautiful at least!

In April I went to a convention in Hutchinson Island with a friend of mine to become a better public speaker.

I also went back to school in April, big, big bucket list thing (Extra bonus bucket list points!)

In May I went to Washington DC with my singles group from my church...talk about laughs!

In June I was back at  Hutchington Island for a class for school.

In July I was in New York for my nieces 30th birthday amongst family and friends.

In August me and my girlfriend flew to Minnesota to be with another dear friend to renew her 20th year wedding vows to her husband. We got to hike and see the most amazing countryside including the Native American reservation that she grew up on.

In September I was back again to Hutchinson island for another class and made a stop in Melbourne to see a dear friend who just moved up there and help her organize her new home.
(Does that count as 2 trips? Hell...sure it does, it's my bucket list!)

In October I again was out in Hutchinson island but this time I was a guest speaker at an event!

I didn't have a trip planned for November but my cousin suddenly passed away and so we were off to New York again for her funeral.
Why is it that we are so busy to never get together with family yet when someone dies there we all are?
As sad as it was, I was happy to be with my family, as dysfunctional as they may be.

For Thanksgiving my girls went to Europe and I decided to go to New Smyrna beach with my girls from church. All of us being single moms and were going to be alone for the hoilday, we instead rented a house on the beach and create our own special Thanksgiving.

In December I had my better late than never birthday and I had friends fly in from across the country we ended up staying at Hollywood beach for the weekend.

12 trips in 12 months....
I have to say it's been a adventure and I have memories that will last me a lifetime. I haven't figured out what my next bucket list thing I want to do is, quite yet but whatever it is I guarantee you it will be an adventure.

So today my friends, remember life is too short. Don't say I'll do it tomorrow as tomorrow may never come.
Like I say all the time LIVE LIFE LARGE!!
Do all that scares you, step out of your box, be present in every moment. Write that bucket list today!
And go out screaming "What a fucking ride!!"

"Be the change you want to see"

"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
