Fault or responsibility
Fault or responsibility
There is a difference between fault and responsibility.
If you grew up and your parents were alcoholics it's not your fault but it's your responsibility to not go down the same path, to correct the hurts they caused in your life.
It's not your fault if your partner cheats on you but it's your responsibility to take that and move on. To make a happy life for yourself despite what happened to you.
Fault and responsibility is not the same thing, it sucks, we want someone to pay, to be their responsibly to fix it, but it is your responsibility to fix it, to move on. Your heart, your life, your growth
is your responsibility and yours alone. You need to be better and not bitter.
Either your a victim or your a survivor, only you can can choose that path.
I had a negative grandmother I lived with who was always bitter and angry. I chose to never be like her.
My ex husband was a verbally abusive, I could have became bitter and angry, I could have hated and never trusted men again but I chose to forgive him, to move on. I still believe in love, I am Tinkerbell, I believe there is a Prince charming out there waiting for me.
It is all up to you, you get to chose how your life turns out, no matter how it started, it is up to you how it ends.
Accepting responsibility is not a recognition of fault, it's a movement of moving foward.
The difference between depression and joy is how you live your life. Either you take responsibility or you fall into a depression that everyone is out to get you. That this is your life, that things will never change because of your alcoholic mother, because your father left you, because you grew up poor, insert your bullshit story here....
We all have a story but we need to take a stand and say okay, this happened and yes, it may have sucked but it's not who I am. It's not my fault but it's my responsibility to move on, to forgive, to change.
It doesn't matter where you came from, the worst stories became the biggest success.
Oprah, Steve Harvey, Les Brown, Maya Angelou, Jim Carey, all had horrible backgrounds, all went through bad times, hard times but they never let their pasts determine their future.
They never gave up on their dreams, they didn't let their pasts hold them back, they didn't listen to the naysayers, the haters who said they would never do it, they believed in themselves.
They didn't care who's fault it was, they only took responsibility for where they were and where they wanted to go.
So today my friends, remember life is a choice, you get to chose.
Either you choice to let your past hold you back or you chose to take responsibility and change your life.
As I say at the end of every blog....
"Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
