Sometimes life is overwhelming

Sometimes life is overwhelming

Even though we live in a world full of technology today and so many things are so much easier than it was years ago, it has also made things harder in some ways. Women have to be supermoms, super wives, super workforce women. We have to have it all, big important jobs, perfect lives, kids in every sport and activities imaginable. We also have to keep up with the Jones and we all have to look like Barbies at all times, while doing it all.

I know how hard it is being a single mom of two girls. I own my own home and all the repairs and maintenance that goes along with it. I own my own business that includes doing professional organizing, and personal assistant work.I do hair at night and I do as many focus groups as possible to make extra money. I also do this blog on 5 different sites, and 3 social media platforms, 5 days a week. I do a weekly YouTube video which I have to make, edit and put out. I am at the gym, 5 mornings a week at 5:30 am.

I was going to church 2 days a week and I volunteered whenever needed before this pandemic hit. (I still go to church, only online now)

I had also to do, all by myself, the gutting and remodeling of my home I bought. I wrote 2 books which took a year of my life. I then had to learn how to build a new website for it, and learn how to set up Facebook pages, Instagram, Twitter and self-publishing. All the joys and aggravation that comes along with all of that because I couldn't afford to pay anymore.

Dam I am tired just writing all of this! Yes, there are some days I have no idea how I do it all as I know many of you out there feel this as well.

We need to do it all, we have to do it all as we have no one to help us. We beat ourselves when we don't get it all done, if our houses aren't spotless, if we snap at little things because we are at our wits end most of the time.

It's tough, especially if you're doing it all on your own. It's hard not to have someone to bounce things off, a shoulder to cry on. Someone to tell you it will all be okay. So instead of beating yourself up, give yourself some slack, be kind to yourself.

You're doing the best you can, you can't do it all.

So today my friends, my advice to you is to let go...

I've learned to let it go, it was way too stressful to keep beating myself up, trying to be perfect. I learned that it's okay if the house wasn't clean, it's okay that I had a list as long as my arm of errands but you chose to go spend time with people you love instead. Listen to me, life is too short, the world is not going to end if our list is not done, if the laundry piles up, if the dishes sit in the sink, none of that matters in the end.

No, enjoy the moment, live in it, live big, live well. Laugh often, be present, enjoy and feel grateful for every second you have, because it is not a guarantee that you will get another.

So take off your super-person cape, throw it out the window, turn up the music, sing at the top of your lungs, make plans with friends, take your kids out for ice cream for dinner and just learn to smile big, live life large because believe me the dishes are not having as much fun as you are!
