The controversy in women's boxing

So yet again, everyone had something to say about what happened at the Paris Olympics in the women's boxing championship.

When Algeria’s welterweight boxer Imane Khelif delivered a powerful blow to the face of Italy’s Angela Carini on Aug. 1, Carini’s decision to end the fight sent shock waves through the Olympics and captured international headlines.

And here came the haters right away saying that Khelif must be “a male,”

(She’s not.) 

Or she’s “transgender.” (Again, she’s not. In fact, it’s illegal in Algeria to be transgender.)

Here are the facts, haters.

Humans normally have 46 chromosomes in their cells, but there are many variations that can occur:

Sex chromosomes

Some people have more than two sex chromosomes, such as XXY, XYY, or XXX. Others may have a single sex chromosome (X or 0X), or one of these chromosomes may be incomplete. For example, Klinefelter syndrome (47, XXY) is a chromosomal variation in males that occurs when there is an extra X chromosome. This extra chromosome can affect physical, neurodevelopmental, behavioral, and neurocognitive functioning.

Turner syndrome is another chromosomal disorder that affects the X chromosome, in which females only have one normal X chromosome. The second X chromosome may be missing pieces or absent entirely.”

See, I didn't know that and assume many people don't as well. Anymore, it doesn't matter because people don't look for facts. They just come out throwing shit they think they know. I read into this and found out that the claim stems from Khelif also failing the same gender tests as Lin Yu-Ting, who have both faced questions over gender.

In the same way as Yu-ting, Khelif does not identify as transgender or intersex and was also born a female. However, according to reports, the IBA claimed Khelif’s DNA tests had revealed XY chromosomes.

The IBA deem that such findings are grounds for disqualification, although the IOC say that because their passports say they are female, they can compete as such.

Essentially , they are saying, Shut up haters, because if they were both born a woman, then they should be able to fight even if they have an extra chromosome. 

So today, my friends, my message is to think before you speak. No one bothers to research any of this. I even saw a famous doctor out here posting non facts and "her opinion" and spreading hate. People just threw accusations at these two boxers, calling them horrible names and saying terrible things about them. That is what is wrong with today's world. Everyone is so quick to put their “two cents” out there that they don't take into effect the hurt it may cause someone. Think before you speak, have compassion for others, and take the time to get your facts straight. The world would be such a better place if we all did that.
