What Will Your Legacy Say About You? Lindsey Graham

Senator Lindsey Graham, died unexpectedly on Saturday at 71.

And not everyone is mourning his death because of who he was as a person in his life.

Look, let's not make people who sucked while they were alive into saints after they die. If you wanted people to talk good about you, you should have done better or been better.

He did not do good in life and here's some facts of that. In 2015 and early 2016, Graham became a no-holds-barred foe of Donald Trump, whom he lambasted as “a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot” who “represents the worst in America.” But somehow Graham started to warm to Trump once the insurgent candidate won the Republican primary on May 4, 2016. Why is that you may ask? Well some people say that the senator, who was widely rumored to be a closeted gay man, had been blackmailed by Trump. Well hey, he got Rubio and JD Vance to switch sides after their outcry of what a horrible man he is…just saying.

But I digress, let's continue on to all the horrible things he passed while he was in government. He voted down all of these things while holding office.

The Respect for Marriage Act: Voted against the 2022 and 2025 federal codifications protecting same-sex and interracial marriages.

Repeal of "Don't Ask, Don't Tell": Opposed the 2010 measure that allowed gay and bisexual Americans to serve openly in the military.

The Equality Act: Voted against federal anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQ+ individuals.

Federal Hate Crime Legislation: Argued and voted against expanding federal hate crime definitions in 2000.

Inflation Reduction Act: Voted against the sweeping 2022 climate, healthcare, and tax package.

Medicaid and Healthcare Expansion: Consistently opposed measures expanding the scope of the Affordable Care Act and Medicaid.

Equal Pay Legislation: Voted against a 2019 bill aimed at ensuring equal pay for female athletes.

Fertility and IVF Coverage: Voted "nay" on a 2025 budget resolution amendment expanding coverage for fertility treatments.

And of course let us not forget the Gun Control and Safety Assault Weapons that he probably pocketed a lot of money to vote against like the rest of them. Why protect our children when you never had any of your own.

Yes, what a stand up guy he truly was. No, let's be real, he was a horrible human being and that is the facts. Look I don't wish anyone death but I am certainly not going to cry crocodile tears for a man who clearly didn't care about anyone else but himself, even the community he was in the closet from but using while he was alive.

So today my friends remember you earn respect, you earn how you will be spoken about and you do that while you are alive. You don't get a get out of jail free card because you're dead. 

It's up to you what your legacy will be after your death. 

And like I say at the end of every blog only you can be the change you want to see.
