The attack on New York City policemen
As I was on the treadmill yesterday I was watching the news. It was showing the videos taken in Harlem over the weekend about two officers being doused with water and pelted with empty buckets while making an arrest.
NYPD Chief Terrence Monahan tweeted. "The videos of cops being doused with water and having objects hurled at them as they made an arrest in #Harlem is reprehensible,"
There was also another video, taken in Brooklyn on Saturday and posted on Instagram Monday, that shows two drenched officers walking away from a group of people, who follow them and continue to pour buckets of water over the officers' heads. The officers involved in the incident were responding to a call about disorderly conduct, according to CBS news.
I have to tell you that I was deeply saddened by this.
Many of my family members were proud police officers, who served our community for years.
Most of my family were also in the armed services and I was saddened by the lack of respect we as a county have for these two groups.

Look don't start throwing hate mail at me yet because yes, I write all the time about the ones who are bad cops, who kill innocent men and women out there. I am not only in favor of Black lives matter but all lives matter. I am in favor of better training and harsher penalties for officers who cannot control themselves.
With that all being said I also know what a tough job they are doing. That they risk their lives each and every day out there trying to protect ours.
Just like our servicemen who died every day for our freedoms. I'm sorry I am old school, I was taught to respect people in authority. And yet we have lost that, especially in this generation. They have no respect for authority, for their elders, for women, only for the "followers and the fame"
Every day we hear about people beating the elderly, rappers calling women bitches and hoes, athletes beating their spouses and getting away with it. Women on crappie shows like The Housewives of who gives a shit, putting each other down and acting like the bitches these songs talk about.
It's a sad situation for this world right now.

I believe policemen and servicemen are like God
(Wait! before you go off on me let me explain)
Meaning you don't appreciate them until you need them. People who don't believe or don't pray regularly will right away pray and ask God for help if they are in trouble, or are about to lose someone they love. The same thing with the people that protect you, you don't respect them, you talk crap about all of them as if there are no good ones out there until the shit hits the fan.
Until your scared in your house when someone is breaking in, or someone is trying to rob you, then your fast to call them for help.

We need to know not all cops are bad, we need to get rid of our small minds and stereotypes of people. Because there is good and bad in all of us, every race, every religion, every law official, or political official there is always some good and some rotten apples that make the whole barrel look bad.
It's like dating, some of my friends say, "All men are dogs" Now why are you lumping all men together? I know some amazing men and I know they are not all dogs. See how this works?
We need to respect the people who risk their lives on a daily basis and if we have a problem with how things are going guess what? We live in America and for now, we are free to vote, to protest, to write and speak about the changes that we need to make.
You want change? Be the change you want to see as I tell you at the end of every blog. Do something good, make the change, be Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King, Tyler Perry, make things happen, don't be part of the problem.
We need to learn how to coexist, to love one another, to work together to benefit all.
So many of these men and women took this job to help others, let them do their jobs and help them get the bad ones off the street, the right way.

Without our voices, nothing can change. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution.
Be the change you want to see"
