If you follow me you know I've been divorced for the last 5 years. Back in the stone ages, we didn't have online dating, we met the old fashioned way or "organically" as they say now. We met through friends, at a club or party or in the supermarket. Now people can look at 100 perspective dates in less than five minutes depending on how fast you can swipe left.

But for those of you new to this or for some of you that aren't as savvy as me when it comes to online dating I will give you some tips.

1. If they say they are a widow 98% of the time they are lying to get your sympathy.

2. They are servicemen and are stationed abroad. Again another red flag most are catfish and besides even if they are real do you really want a penpal for the next four years?

3. Catfish... a whole other bag of smelly shit here. They are people who steal others pictures and pretend to be them. If you have kids tell them to let you watch the MTV show with the same name.

4. Men who promise you shit...please! They are just trying to bait you. Buyer beware!

5. Men who want to text and never met. I say in big bold letters on my profile
If I wanted a penpal I'd write to someone in prison! Seriously they are playing games and I no longer have time for that! Bye Felica...thank you next...

6. Beware of the grainy pictures from 10 and 20 years ago. We all wish we looked like that again, we don't!

7. People with only one picture or no pictures. Either is a catfish and they only stole one picture or are married and don't want to get caught with their mugshot up here.

8. Anyone that lives in a third world country. I hope I don't have to explain this but since that show has aired, My fiance or whatever bullshit name it is, I realize that I must because people fall for this....ugg!

9. The ghoster: beware of people who start conversations with you, hook you in and then ghost you. Meaning disappears into the night never to be seen again.

10. I truly hope no one falls for this but I do know people that do so I must put out a public warning!  Do not give money, send money, let them "borrow" money unless your willing to never see it or them again.

These are my top 10 warning signs about online dating. I know you may have others and I would love to hear them.

Stay tuned tomorrow for tips on staying safe if you actually get a date with hopefully not one of these flakes. Until then my biggest tip is always to listen to your gut, your intuitions, that voice in your head yelling Run Forrest run!
It knows danger better than you do, trust me I know!
If it doesn't feel right, it's not!

So today my friends remember to be smart out there, there are so many con men out there, I know I dated one of the biggest (read my old blogs, 4 other women and a wife beside me!)
So I don't want any other person to go through this. Be safe but be smart.
