The effects of gratefulness
The effects of gratefulness
If you know me or follow me, you know that I am always grateful for my life. Not just the good times but even through the bad as well.
This is part of my life each and every day. There is not a day that goes by that I do not feel this way and express it.
But did you know that being grateful is actually good for you? Yes, there are studies out there that say this.
Expressing gratitude is associated with a host of mental and physical benefits. Studies have shown that feeling thankful can improve sleep, mood, and immunity. Gratitude can decrease depression, anxiety, and difficulties with chronic pain and risk of disease. If there was a pill that could do this, everyone would be taking it. Just like exercise can reduce depression yet so many turn to prescription drugs to do this.
Do you know the benefits of gratitude?
Better sleep.
Before you hit the sack, spend a few minutes counting your blessings, and you could sleep more soundly and longer.
Better physical health...
Better mental health.…
Greater willpower...
Improved self-esteem....
Better relationships....
Improved self-care.
Yes, imagine just by being grateful you can change your life.
So today my friends try it, start small if you have to, like I did all those years ago. Just start with the basics that so many people don't have. A roof over your head, food on your table. A good friend or your children. A relationship with your higher power. That you can walk or see or hear. Things we take for granted every day. Do this every day and trust and believe you will add to it after a while. The sunset on the beach, the trees, the clouds in the sky. A good night out with friends, a call from a loved one. Before you know it, you are grateful for everything, every moment, every second of your life, and you will see your life change. These are effects of gratefulness. Try it today, and like I say at the end of every blog…
