Being rich and famous
Being rich and famous
So this weekend I had a conversation with a friend of mine and we were talking about being rich and famous. They said they would love to be rich and famous and then asked me my opinion. I said no, I'd rather just be rich. Being famous comes with too much baggage, especially when you're famous, like Whitney Houston or Michael Jackson, famous.
Yes, the world adored them, but the world also turned on them when they didn't live up to what the world thought they should be. They couldn't go for a run in their neighborhood or run out to the local 7-11 for a slurpee. There are cameras everywhere, watching and recording their every move. You are basically living your life like a fish in a fish bowl.
Be honest. How many of you ran out to the store with your hair not done and no makeup on and in your house sweatpants? Now imagine walking outside and the paparazzi were there taking pictures, posting them and then talking about how bad you looked. It has to be hard on anyone.
Your every word, every action, every detail of your life is out there for every hater to come at you, every single day. And then people wonder why so many famous people have addictions or turn to suicide. I can't imagine or do I ever want to be that famous.
In the end, they are just human beings who want a life. Yet society puts them up on that pedestal and expects them to live up to it.
So today my friends remember, you better be careful what you wish for, because sometimes it's more than you bargained for. And so many famous people have paid the price for fame.
