Life is about living

Life is about living.

The best laid plans mean nothing when you live your life large.

This has been my motto since I've gotten divorced. See I spent too many years unhappy, and miserable in a life I hated. But since I got my freedom, I now live my life to the fullest.

It doesn't matter what plans you have, you need to be able to be flexible. There have been many times that I had planned to stay home, because I had things to do, but I threw them out the window when I was invited out to dinner and live music on the beach. See I love the beach and I love live music and then there's my, you only live once motto, so screw it, let's go!

There were many Sunday's that instead of church, I slept in and even though we didn't plan it, we were all off and I got to spend time with my girls making and having brunch together. We would drink mimosas, we laugh, we catch up with what's going on in our lives. Then we would relax and watch a movie together. This is what life is all about, living in the moment, enjoying our time together as a family. That is my idea of a perfect Sunday morning, being able to be with my girls.

There have been times that a friend came over to help me with a project and afterwards he invited me out to lunch.

Now even though I had a list of things to do a mile long, I choose to live in the moment yet again and enjoy the time with him.

I remember once while I was home doing some work someone I hadn't heard from in a long while texted me and asked me to come out for a drink to catch up.

I left my stuff on the couch and went, it turned into a beautiful night on the water catching up. 

What I am telling you is that I would have missed all of these amazing moments if I was so strict about my lists or what "needed" to be done. Instead I just went with the flow, I allowed these things to happen and trust me, I am so glad I did.

My point is that life is too short, the dishes, the laundry, the list of crap you need to do is still going to be there, long after you're dead.

But the people you love and care about, well that can be gone in an instant. Trust and believe it when I tell you that I have lost way too many people in one lifetime, so I speak from experience when I say that.

 

We weren't meant to work all the time, to make money and not have human connection. I truly hope that this coronavirus has taught us that we need family, we need human connection, we need to learn what is truly important in our lives. Because on our deathbeds you won't be saying I wish I worked more and made more money, I wish I got more likes on Instagram or were more popular on social media. No, you will be saying I wish I spent more time with my family and friends. I wish I did the things I loved, I wish I would have had a bucket list, I wish....I wish.....for more time....

You have time...now, this moment, this second, don't waste it, don't have regrets later on.

So today my friends, remember that this is what life is about, it's about making memories, it's about being present in the moment, it's about the funny, loving, fulfilling memories that you make. It's about the laughter, the touch, and it's about living life large and on your terms.

The list will still be there, the dishes, the laundry, all of that will still be there long after you're dead and gone. So just live your best life today, we never know how much of it we have left.
