Maybe change is coming in the church
Maybe change is coming in the church?
If you follow me you know I grew up Catholic and how I saw first hand their hypocritical ways.
Like denying me of having my first communion because my mother was "ex communicated" from the church for being divorced.
Yet the priest knew this years before because my step father was there every Sunday to wake his drunken ass up.
This "rule" all of a sudden changed when my real father came up and greased the Priest's palms with cash, then all of a sudden it was magically okay. It was on that day of my communion that my mother looked that priest in his eyes and said "Take a good look at this face because you'll never see it in your fucking church again!!" And walked off never stepping foot into a church again.
God...I miss my mom, but she was right you can't play sides when it suits you.
Why is it okay that the church has the most homosexuality and child sexual abuse among all other religions but they chose to sweep it under the rug because it doesn't suit their image.
But maybe just maybe, times are changing and maybe the church is changing with them.
Recently Pope Francis spoke out and called the Trump administration policy of separating children at the border “cruelty of the highest form” in a new documentary that premiered in Rome.
“It’s cruelty, and separating kids from parents goes against natural rights,” the pope says in the documentary “Francesco.” “It’s something a Christian cannot do. It’s cruelty of the highest form.”
In case you're living under a rock, under the Trump administration, U.S. border enforcement officials began separating children from their parents as early as 2017, according to the Associated Press. The administration implemented a zero-tolerance policy in May 2018, leading to more than 2,700 children being separated from their parents in less than a month. That June, a U.S. district judge ordered an end to the practice.
For the Pope to speak out against a president is unheard of and then this comes out as well.
Pope Francis also expressed support for same-sex civil unions in remarks revealed in this documentary film that premiered on Wednesday, a significant break from his predecessors that staked out new ground for the church in its recognition of gay people.
The remarks, coming from the leader of the Roman Catholic Church, had the potential to shift debates about the legal status of same-sex couples in nations around the globe and unsettle bishops worried that the unions threaten what the church considers traditional marriage — between one man and one woman.
“What we have to create is a civil union law. That way they are legally covered,” Francis said in the documentary, “Francesco,” which debuted at the Rome Film Festival, reiterating his view that gay people are children of God. “I stood up for that.”
"Homosexuals have a right to be a part of the family,” Francis says at another point in the documentary. “They’re children of God and have a right to a family. Nobody should be thrown out, or be made miserable because of it.”
Wow… I am shocked but am still skeptical about this…
I am thinking is this for real? Or is it because the Catholic Church has been losing so many members and money because of their age old rules and their holier than thou attitude.
Yes, I'm sorry but let's call a spade a spade,as they have been doing what suits them for years so why the sudden change?
Maybe, we can only hope that this Pope is about change, that he is truly speaking from his heart and not the church's pockets. Whatever it is, it is a step in the right direction, to show that God loves everyone, that no one should judge but God. That not even the Pope or the Catholic Church is higher than God, like for so many years they pretended to be God himself.
They cast blame and cruelty down on others who didn't live up to "their" rules. They preached hell and fire on others, they were judge and jury condemning all to burn in hell unless we all stayed in line.
All the while knowing what was going on behind closed doors in their own homes and churches.
So today my friends, I can only hope that this is going to bring change. That this is a step in the right direction for the Catholic Church and for all the people who were cast out before.
Maybe just maybe they are following Jesus's path.. to love one another, to be kind to your neighbors, to not judge, to finally understand we are all God's children.
We can only hope….
