You cannot change what you refuse to address
That is the problem with so many people today, they refuse to admit they have a problem. As if doing so will make you less than…. And so they never address it and hey, if you don't address it, then it doesn't exist.
That is the first step in any recovery, that you must admit you have a problem, you will not change your behavior until you admit there is a problem.
If you want to change, you cannot ask a person to take you somewhere where they have never been themselves. You need to be with someone who has walked in your shoes, who knows your pain and can help you through. Many times people see what they want to see, they see you changing and they become afraid. They know you're not staying in this space with them for long so instead they try to tear you down.
They tell you you can't make it, that you think you're better than everyone else because you want to change. They will make you question yourself and your self worth just because they can see you changing and it doesn't suit them.
People may call you arrogant, but why is that? Because you didn't ask for their permission to move on? To dream big? To change?
Tell me why should I my shut down my confidence for your insecurity?
If a man is afraid of a strong woman, then he is not a strong man. If someone wants you to dumb yourself down, it's because they are afraid of your intelligence.
They see all the places you are going to and they know that is not their path, so they try to sabotage yours.
What I've learned on this faith walk is that I refuse to be a second class copy of you. There is no one like me, I am an original! I tell my girls all the time, to dance to the beat of your own drummer. I embodied that for so long and then one day I gave my power away to a man.
I let him tell me what my value was, I believed him when he said I was useless, that I wasn't worthy.
It took me a long, long time to get back that worth, to know and realize who I am.
I now know my own worth again, I love myself again and it took a long time to own that, to be able to stand tall with that knowledge.
So today my friends, let me ask you, are you with people that push other people down so their light will shine brighter?
People who are insecure?
People who are afraid of your dreams and aspirations?
You must let go of them to grow and change. But most importantly you must let go of your own self doubt, your own insecurities, you must be able to stand up and admit you have a problem, that there is something not working and that you need to change.
Because you cannot change what you refuse to address.
And so I ask you, why be a spectator when you can be a participant?
Be the best version of yourself possible and like I say at the end of every blog….
