Tribute to my cousin's life
Tribute to my cousin's life
If you follow me you know that last week I lost my cousin suddenly to a heart attack. She was an amazing women who I loved dearly. I wanted to speak at her funeral because I wanted everyone to know her like I knew her.
So this is my tribute to her and her life.
I never thought I would be up here doing this...
I thought this bitch would live forever as she was the toughest women I knew.
She was my shero, she could do anything...she could bake you the most amazing cake with fondant and then built you a shed.
She could fix anything that was broken and then cook you the most incredible Italian 6 course meal.
All with grace and ease.
She made homemade costumes, her own chocolates, she could whip together any craft you needed and would definitely put Susie homemaker and Martha Stewart to shame.
When I saw the pictures of her on the tractor on Facebook, I laughed because that was my cousin... a women not afraid of anything, willing to take on new challenges everyday, at any age.
She was 10 years older then me and she was the apple of my mom and dads eye. She would spend weekends with them and when I came along she was the big sister I never had.
I don't remember a time she wasn't in our lives.
She was always so strong, she had the biggest heart and the dirtiest mouth of anyone I knew.
She was always there to help a friend out, to lend a helping hand but don't get it twisted...she would tell you like it was and where to go in a hot minute.
She was always a true New Yorker quick witted and with a quick tongue.
She was there for me when my dad died and she became the matriarch of the family when her mom died, always trying to keep the family together.
I was there when both Michelle and Vincent Michael was born, she was my role model for being the perfect mother and wife.
She was there for my wedding and when I had my girls.
When my mom died, I told her that I was now a orphan.
She said to me "Your never a orphan, you always have a family"
Then she planned a family reunion so my girls and I could reconnect and they could meet our large potty mouth family.
I could never thank her enough for that.
We talked all the time, she took over the role of my mom when she died...she was always there for me... always telling me advice wither I wanted to hear it or not.
She was hard headed and opinionated and yet had a smile that would light up the room and would melt your heart.
The last message I got from her said "Don't worry I'm not going anywhere bitch"
I laughed because that was what we called each other me, her and my other cousin Kathleen as terms of endearment.
Didn't I say we came from a potty mouth family?
How I wish that was true...
There is now a hole in my heart, a hole that no one could ever fill because my sweet cousin was one of a kind... a Renaissance women way ahead of her time.
I am so going to miss you bitch...
"Be the change you want to see"
"And just when the caterpillar thought his life over...he turned into a beautiful butterfly"
