Don't judge a book by it's cover

I remember when I was watching Oprah and she was interviewing 50 cent. He said to her  "Either pray or worry, you can't do both, so pick one"

Wow, this blew me away, this was coming from a "So called "thug" as she called him. A man who used to deal drugs, a known street thug who was shot 9 times point blank by another drug dealer, and yet here he was on Oprah no less, talking about praying, I was blown away.

Yes, see you can never judge a book by its cover. Yes, he was all of that and more as he admitted to Oprah but he said that was a long time ago and he wasn't the same man today. Today this man takes the proceeds of his drinks and feeds millions of hungry children around the world. Yes, I was shocked too! Who knew?

I know I shouldn't have been shocked as this is the message I preach all the time, that we all can change.It is possible if you truly want to, that it can and will happen.

A perfect example of that is Dwayne Wade's mom. She was a prostitute, she was a heroin addict, she was living on the streets, and she was in and out of jail. She said in her own words that she was a horrible mother but in one moment she decided to change all that. Now she's a Pastor of her own church, she helps others get off drugs and get off the streets, and when she tells her testimony, it is amazing. 

Yes, no matter how bad it is, how low you have seemed to go, there is always hope. One of my favorite quotes is from Les Brown, he says "When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up"

You need to always look for the good even when life knocks you down, even when people don't think you can do it, you need to know that you have it inside of you, you need to believe it.

I love The Wizard of Oz when the good witch Glenda says to Dorothy, "You always had it inside of you!"

We all have it, inside of us, we just need to learn to dig deep to get to it. Yes, I know some of the outside world might still judge you on your past mistakes, but don't worry about them, let them talk, you know how far you have come. You know your journey and how far you had to fight your way up from the bottom. This is not about them or what they think, this is about you and how much you are willing to do to change.

My ex-husband use to say all the time "A leopard can't change it's spots" 

And he's right, a leopard can't but we are not leopards, we are human beings and time and time again I have see people change their ways, change their lives, completely redo their circumstances and come out better. 

I know this from experience, I was a drug addict, I drank every night, I hit rock bottom, when I finally cleaned myself up, I found myself in another messed up situation, in an abusive marriage. Everyone thought I was so happy, that we were the perfect family, no one knew how I cried each and every day, no one knew that I wanted to die and how I felt like I was dying inside, just as I didn't know 50 cent was the man he was today, see you never know, so you can't judge. You need to worry about how you look at yourself in the mirror, not at others reflections of how they think you look.

So today my friends, I am here to tell you that yes, change is possible. It is up to you, what do you want to change?

You can make your life the way you want to, it's up to you.Get up today and decide to make it a great one, and don't worry about others who judge a book by it's cover, you got a best seller going on inside of you.
