How a vision board can change your life

How a vision board can change your life.

It's funny, yesterday as I was having my breakfast at my desk I looked up and saw my vision board for this year, well I have to tell you that this shit was definitely not on it. But it got me to remember why I started my vision board, it was when I first started to find my voice back in 2008. I was watching Oprah and she was talking about having a vision board, to put out to the universe what you wanted and what you wanted to attract. It came from the bestselling book The Secret about what you put out, you get back, so I decided to try it.

I was on a mission to break free from my horrible marriage I was in. Hell, at that point I was willing to try anything. So I went out and bought a canvas. I started with a quote that said "2008 is your year!" I then cut out quotes that touched me or inspired me. I put on things I wanted to inspire to or to be like and I glued them on there as well.

Quotes like:

You can do it.

You are fearless.

Have faith.

Never give up hope.

Then I cut out pictures of what I wanted my future home to be. I put on the furniture, the paintings, whatever I wanted to see in my new home. I had pictures of my couch, my dining room set, the bedroom all glued up there. I then placed places I would love to visit, Greece, Hawaii, Paris, Italy, Egypt.

Now I went on to what I wanted to manifest in my career and finances. I had a picture of Oprah, because I always wanted to be a speaker on her show. I had a picture of a book that said New York Times best seller, I had pictures of public speakers I'd admired and wanted to be like. I put pictures of the home I wanted one day on the water. I posted pictures of money, pictures of my church and the things I would do for them when I hit it big.

I put pictures of healthy people in love, relaxing pictures that brought me peace and joy when I looked at them. I put up bible quotes, I put up quotes about love and loving myself, whatever touched me and what I wanted to see and what I envision for my future.

Then I put it over my washer and dryer since I was always in there by myself. (That and the fact that no one ever helped with laundry, so I'd have peace in there to sit and envision my new life that was coming) I would stand there for hours washing and folding clothes while staring and seeing what my life was going to look like, be like. There were times that I could actually feel it, because it was so real to me.

At night when I would cry myself to sleep, I would envision all that was on that board, it was so real to me that it brought me to tears, this time happy tears. I knew without a shadow of a doubt that all these things were going to come to pass. But you can trust and believe that my ex-husband would give me crap about it, even some of my friends laughed at me but it never diminished my belief. I held on to that mustard seed hope of one day having all of that and I wasn't going to let anyone take that away from me.

So imagine that when I finally moved out and got my own place, it ended up looking just like my vision board. I became all that I posted. I was finally strong, independent and full of peace and joy. I started speaking in public, and I wrote not just one book but two. I've traveled to many of those places I onced dreamed about. I now own my own business and home, things that weren't even on there.

I am blogging to help others and I am finally happy and at peace with who I am and where I am in my life.

I am looking forward to the rest of my things on my board to come to pass and every year I work on yet another one with bigger and better things.

So today my friends, remember to put out there what you want, what you expect to happen and then believe that it will, never give up. Envision your life as you want it. Work at changing yourself, read books, go to seminars, change your thought patterns, that's all, it's as simple as that! I am living proof that a vision board can change your life.

And don't give up I'm saying this especially during this time because some things take time. I started that first vision board in 2008 and it took 4 years before I was free, before these things came to pass. 4 long, horrible years and there were times when I wanted to quit and throw it out the window but I held on, I believed it with all my being and eventually it all came to pass. So don't give up, hold on, it's coming and it will be better than you've imagined, trust me.

"Be the change you want to see"
